Relive Elias Pettersson's dazzling rookie season with the #Canucks. Scoring 28 goals and picking up 66 points in 71 games, he led the team and set a new franchise rookie record.
Here are some of Petey's accomplishments:
1. Set a Canucks franchise record for most points in a rookie season, finishing with a team-high 28 goals, 38 assists and 66 points.
2. Pettersson not only lead the Canucks, but all rookies in goals (28), assists (38), points (66), power-play goals (10), power-play points (22), game-winning goals (7), and points per game (0.93).
3. He scored his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot in his first NHL game.
4. He's only the fifth player in the last 100 years to score 10 goals in his first 10 games.
5. Petey finished seventh for most points by a Swedish-born player in their rookie season all-time.
6. Pettersson became just the fourth active player to accumulate 40 or more career points within his first 40 NHL games.
7. Petey had the second most productive season by a Swedish-born player 20-years-old or younger. Nicklas Backstrom had 69 points in 2007-08.
8. He had the sixth most productive season by a European-born rookie (aged 20 or younger) in NHL history. The top five: Alex Ovechkin (106 in 2005-06), Evgeni Malkin (85 in 2006-2007), Alexei Yashin (79 in 1993-94), Jari Kurri (75 in 1980-81) and Nicklas Backstrom (69 in 2007-08).
9. Petey recorded 50 points in his first 45 games, putting him sixth on the list of players to have accomplished that in the last 30 years.
10. Petey represented Team Pacific in the 2019 NHL All-Star Game, becoming the youngest Canucks player and just the third Vancouver rookie named to the honour.
