I was born in St. Louis but I ran away to NYC at 17. I did have 2 works on display in the museum after I attended summer art classes. It was a big deal because most of the students only got to display one work. One of creations was inspired by the Nevelson sculpture in your video. I had totally forgotten about this experience. It’s wonderful how art can be so evocative. Thanks for reminding me of the art that made a lasting impression. Still love Chuck Close as well.

I have been just there last week. The St. Louis Art Museum is one of my favorites. They also have excellent art from Africa and Oceania.

I am so pleased to be introduced to John Rogers Cox in this visit. Great juxtaposition with Benton, but his work also feels akin to the contemporary Polish painter Leon Tarasewicz. Yes, please make more videos like this.

Thank you! And it seems both affordable and expensive art schools have been closing. I was super sad when the San Francisco Art Institute closed. So many great artists went there.
