CPL teams in Quebec would be nice. 1 in the Metro Montreal and 1 in Quebec city would be great add-ons
@restepozz26 күн бұрын
the fact that the 2nd largest province doesnt have a team is so insane
@user-tr5wx5uu5b26 күн бұрын
The city of quebec is actually doing research about the viability of a team. I think in 3-5 years there will be a team for sure
@dannyk84726 күн бұрын
@user-tr5wx5uu5b call them the Fc Nordiques and it would get done for next season.

Teams don’t just pop out of nowhere. They are funded and ran by ownership groups. It’s a shame that no one in QC has stepped up yet.

This was a great game for League 1 Quebec and League 1 Canada overall. It’s a shame that Halifax had to be the CanPL team to loose but history happens and saint-Laurent achieved that accomplishment. Sorry Halifax had to loose 5 games in a row but the fans are strong enough to support their team anytime. Huge respect to them! Great games in the voyagers cup preliminary round.

Waiting to see a CPL expansion in Quebec. Both the City and Montreal.
@appletree1326 күн бұрын
Maybe not Montreal because the city already has an MLS team, but Quebec city needs one 100%

@@appletree13 I think it's possible, They got a Vancouver club to share with Whitecaps.
@appletree1326 күн бұрын
@@NSLUploader true, but VFC does have to compete with the 'Caps, an as a result they have one of the lowest attendances in the CPL. I don't think the CPL should try teams in and around the major cities.
@GrahamLT26 күн бұрын
@@appletree13somewhat disagree. I think there are plenty of GTA cities and Toronto neighbourhoods that could support a team. It just has to be done right. I can't speak to the same for Montreal or Vancouver as I don't know the intracacies of their cities, but I'm sure it's possible. Ultimately, with 40% of the country's population and probably an even greater share of the country's soccer fans, the GTA and Southern Ontario will have to have more teams. And I think this evolution will spark the intense rivalries that the league needs to progress. The CPL won't be able to function like the National Lacrosse League with Mickey Mouse team names in vehicle cities. It will have to become more global style, a la London with multiple clubs, or Sydney and a Melbourne with their umpteen NRL/ARL teams.
@appletree1326 күн бұрын
@@GrahamLT Wider Ontario I agree. Fake London needs a team, as does Windsor (and a couple other mid-size cities). I meant in the immediate area. Just outside Montreal is fine, providing that it doesn't go under the Montreal name, just as York FC is their own team but play in a suburb of Toronto. You're probably right about Toronto tbh, given as I've never been. Besides, only Toronto really has the population to do that. I can't speak for Montreal either, given that I've also never visited, but Vancouver doesn't really have the population and density to support that at the moment. Like I said, VFC have to compete with the Caps, but VFC play in Langley, which is far out from most of the population centres, meaning people will have to travel quite a bit for an argurably worse team. Now that will change slightly with the eventual finishing of the Surrey-Langley Skytrain, but the problem remains. Apologies if this is incoherent or contradicts itself, it's 10:30pm when I wrote this and I've had a long day 😅

Halifax were lucky to go on penalty shoutout, the first penalty given was a gift because the player threw himself on the pitch to get that penalty. The second goal was a clear hand ball, he moved his arm just enough to make contact with the ball.

2 takeaways for me 1. Quebec needs a CPL club 2. Promotion/relegation between the CPL and League One Canada would present zero issues in terms of competitiveness

CPL is looking embarrassing this year. Rovers nearly beating Pacific, HFX loses to league1, and Otttawa beats Valor 7 - 0 when there's only a few teams in the league. Not a good look
@user-tr5wx5uu5b26 күн бұрын
The difference between the Ligue 1 Quebec and CPL is really low because most teams rely on local players unlike MLS with few international talents. The same can be seen in the different semi-pro leagues in the UK.
