Something needs to change. You can’t do the same mistakes over and over again and expect different results. For me playing Haaland every game without Rodry is never going to work because it looks like we are a player short in the middle every game. If you don’t want to change style of play the only solution is dropping Haaland for the big games and playing Foden as a false 9 to get that extra player in midfield that we so desperately need. Have we forgotten that we only turned things around last year when Haaland was injured. No disrespect to him he is the best finisher in the world but he just doesn’t fit in this style of play.

I told some friends sometimes ago that having a certain type of style in football without having the right type or quality of players for that style.. would not yield to any success.. city has enjoyed so much success cos of their budget or cash flow.. now FFP is in play and they don't have that money to flex. I was so angry that we were losing matches but now I'm not. I rarely watch highlights when we lose a match, but now I will. I have made peace with the fact that every successful club usually have a period of declining. We have seen that with Barca, Real Madrid, United, Chelsea, etc. This must be the season for City's decline. It's a chance to urgently rebuild. We have failed to rebuild, thinking "we are city ..we can always compete!." We got it wrong, terribly. We let Alvarez & Palmer go, but never replaced them. We wanted Decran Rice as a Rodri sub or counterpart, but when we didn't get him, we moved on without exploring other options. Now we're in the middle of 💩💩💩 and we are stranded. I don't think we will win anything this season, but this should be a lesson to Pep and our Arab owners. Always be in the rebuild!

I think that our problem has been that in recruitment, City stopped being strategic but nostalgic instead. When Pep arrived, he said that the major problem he had in the first season was inheriting an aged squad. He resolved that problem by letting go of some old guys and bringing in people who were in their young age; he nourished them and made them experienced. But now he is stubbornly refusing to accept that age, which is connected with diminished energy and power as well as an increase of injuries, is a problem; you can hear that in his interviews. What is sad is that to resolve City's problem was not hard, as it didn't need to buy any new players, but to let go time after time of the old ones and keep, give a chance, and support the young ones until they become experienced. I give you a list of young and good players Man City let go in the past 5 years: Sancho, Douglas Luiz, Porro, Palmer, Rodgers, and Alvarez, and these are a few.
