NZ won defending the World Cup. They won this tournament despite loosing most of the tournament. In 7s, there's no one who is the king of 7s. Take it from me being a Fijian. In 15s, NZ is the best and their winning rates are ridiculous. We just learned that it's not always about the talent and physical fitness. Strategy is also the main impact in every sport and everything we do.

Yes, I just said that in rugby 7s the difference isn't as marked as in rugby union. I mean, in rugby union the difference with other national teams is almost embarassing (though refereeing sometimes helps. Not that they need it, they would probably win all the same)

I was at the utah rugby tournament and saw Fiji play against our club team, man they wasted them. Much love from NZ Fiji! Die hard fan but I love my all blacks too! Haha

I'm always stunned at how much luck is involved in 7's - unlike 15 Man Rugby which is 99% Skill - Even though certain Teams rule 7's - Those same Teams seem to lose every 2rd Game which doesn't seem to happen in the 15 Man Game - Seems an "Off Day" is a regular occurence in 7's.

Yes NZ are incredibly successful and truly the best rugby team in the World. That said the times are a changing. Despite playing with our star players diverted to other parts of the game, seabelo senatla, Werner Koch, etc the Blitzboks still perform. Our 7’s team is at full strength simply way better than NZ . No point in saying that to a Kiwi, just my opinion. Fully fit and players available NZ cannot live with Blitzboks!

Well I expect this event received very little publicity anywhere except maybe NZ and a few other Pacific islands . But rugby is a pretty small sport everywhere else whereas the Olympics are big everywhere . The Olympic events for teams are bigger in every sport except football where the men's Olympic event is an age group event and the women's event is very small and full of weak teams (like NZ )
