Highlights: Penguins @ Capitals: Game 2 2009 Playoffs

First, give me some credit for having these highlights up as early as I did. It's not easy to go through the clips after a loss like this.
This is what the media wants I'm sure...Crosby and Ovechkin, BOTH with hat tricks. That's pretty outstanding.
But the Pens need some secondary scoring (hint hint Sykora). Crosby has been unreal this series. I've never seen him putting it in the net like he is now. 6 goals in the last 3 games? Ovechkin has been unstoppable too though, so they've both stepped up their games.
This game, in my opinion, comes down to the 3rd period powerplays when it was 2-2. The Pens got a powerplay and did absolutely nothing in the entire two minutes. It looked horrible. I know they got one earlier in the game, but this powerplay just sucked. I sat back in my chair in disgust. Then, as it ends, the Caps get a powerplay. Ovechkin scores in about 3 seconds. That was the difference.
The only thing I can take from this game was that the Pens did not quit. Down by 2 with a minute left, and they score. Never quit, never give up. Even on the play, Crosby had 4 or 5 whacks at the puck, never giving up. That is what the Pens need from EVERYONE in game 3. DO IT!

This was a great game to see. One of the most exciting I've seen as a Capitals fan of my whole 20 year life. And Doc announcing is the absolute best.

Hahah people always say that, Datsyuk is not underrated or anything. Every proper hockey fan knows he is 1 of the best, people love him and his game. Every single player has him among the top 10 players in the league some will even put him on top. The media gives him no attention because he hardly speaks any english, they do love showing highlights of him though. He's incredibly appreciated.

Listen I am a huge penguins fan and crosby fan. Throughout this series i have found that i have more respect for ovie then what i thought. It is hard to say that but i said it. also, crosby did have three goals he just couldnt find anyone else to help him out. I Think that even tho caps fans do not like crosby that they too have earned a certain amount of respect for him. If u watch and listen to them talk its never about themselves its always about the team, both these players are hated by ....

I agree Crosby didn't win the cup by himself. That's crazy talk in hockey, for the most part. But he did score 2nd most behind Malkin, and he took on Detroit's big defensive first line in the cup finals (notice, Zetterberg didn't have many points either), leaving Malkin with leftovers. He didn't win it single-handedly, but he had a big part, for sure.

First off I don't know where Varlarmov (or however your goalies name is spelled) he is keeping you guys in this series. He has made some pretty lucky but at the same time sick saves. DrewnDebbie, it doesn't matter how a goal is scored if it goes in it goes in. Garbage goal or not it counts. If you actually watch the games, Ovechkin isn't a PK guy. He was put in this game on the PK in desparation, and he coughed the puck up which resulted in a goal. And pass? Not in OV's vocabulary. He shot nearly twice as much as the 2nd goal scorer in the league. Hits? Sure he hits, even his own teammates at times. But unlike most big hitters, he never, ever answers for his hits with fists.

opposing teams because they both are great players and are a big reason why they are here right now. so its unfair for a pens fan to say that ovie sucks and its unfair as a caps fan to say that crosby sucks cause they are both simply untrue. Both games were great games and seperated by one goal. As a fan of the game and the pens i would love to see this game go deeper than what it looks like now. All im sayin is both players are great and i think they should have earned respect from opposingfans

i agree the caps need some better defense. theyre giving up too many odd man goals. however, varly has only given up 11 goals in 8 games and has the best GAA out of any goalie in the playoffs. it was theodore who played game 1 in the rangers series.

My last comment was in response to someone who said Ovechkin's had no support, and Crosby's been playing with much better players. So my response was, name on guy on his line that's better than Backstrom. Malkin's a center, he's never been a full-time linemate of Sid's. I'm not talking about who's the best in the game here, I'm arguing that OV's support on his line has been just as good if not better than Crosby's had in his career.

If you're looking at the all-around center, I wouldn't put up too much of an argument that Datsyuk is on top. But do you realize the guys you're talking about are almost a decade older than Sid? I really think he'll get to that level in the next couple of years, and at that point he'll be about 25 years old. So when it comes down to it, I'll agree with you're original comment, but you gotta give Sid props for being in the debate considering he just turned 22.

I'm just wondering, if sitting by the net and waiting for the puck to hit your stick nets you a close 2nd in goals scored in a stanley cup playoff, why haven't more players come up with such a genius idea? You apparently know more than the Redwings coach, because he put his best two defensemen and his top defensive forward on the ice to shadow Crosby in all 7 games of the cup final (they let their 2nd unit go against Malkin). A lot of attention for a guy who just sits by the net.

first off, you're half wrong. avery was voted the biggest diver, and second off, the only reason he was voted that is because he's at the center of the league. in reality, guys like derek roy and teemu selanne whine a hell of a lot more, but who cares about them? no one. as for the hats, it managed to work out pretty well in the end and i'm not exactly sure what fight you're talking about, but i'm sure if ovechkin did the same thing, he's a great example of what a leader should do
