Fake it till you make it. I fab'd up a resume to show 5 years of welding experience when I really had like 5 weeks. Applied for a structural position in new construction, passed my weld test, kept my mouth shut and soaked up all the learning I could. Made contacts followed through with them and the rest is history. Just be safe out there. This guy has good detailed info. 🤘

Made a resume one time n had no clue what I was doin. Just turnedb28 on the 14 n tho I've been in other trades I never found one that I really enjoyed doing and could see myself doing it for the rest of my life. I was recently in a rehab program that was work based n we were putting together a building. They had thick red iron I beams and I had the opportunity to learn how to weld (I told the pastor that runs it that I wanted to learn how to weld and operate heavy machinery when I got there so see how God works? He knew I was serious and I'd try my hardest, and I been wanting to weld for a few years now, and he put me in position to get the ball rolling). Well we had some old Miller's and (I wanna say 1/8) 70 18s. I got to learn how to weld stick and it was awesome really cuz I was in a place w no distractions, lived right there on site, and it was totally free. The leader of the work crew (a man named Jim) wanted us to start welding classes there for guys that have either been there a min or ppl that have graduated n stayed on for them to get a trade and have a job set up for them when they leave the program. U thought it was a great idea and could really help ppl plus give. Incentive to stay there n also give em hope for how they are gonna support their family.e and one.other dude (son city Royal from Gulfport, Mississippi we're going to basically be the guinea pigs for the class. Jim reached us everything to know about stick and let us put together this building, which was a church we we're building btw so that's pretty cool. He had us make coupons and encouraged us that in our free time we bevel em out n practice so we can pass the tests. He made it so 3 days a week at 3pm we stop working and practice out welding tests. See never found an exact company that was willing to work w us but really would coulda tried a lil harder, but what he did do was call around a bunch of places in the area and ask what their test entail. So he got all that info n told us those are the stuff we will practice so when we leave we can pass the test w our eyes close n get a job. Well I fell in love w welding. I've been out of the program since November 15th and still haven't got a job somewhere even as a helper, which just like you said he recommended. Said we shouldn't jump straight into it n should be welders n learn all we can while we are helpers. Both mine and the Royal's ultimate goal are to become pipe welders and fitters and go on a pipeline somewhere since we heard they're paying out the ass up for that. I don't have a license em n am waiting for something tobusenas proof of residency so I can go get it then apply any and everywhere for a position welding. Do you think I should even mention the 3.5 months of welding I have done or just basically gonin there n tell em I don't know much about it but I'm hungry to learn? I'm in Biloxi, Mississippi and I'm determined to make welding my career. It's one of the only things I've done that I thoroughly enjoy doing and it pays well. Plus let's be honest. It's simply some MFin manly ass work lmao if you could tell me what my next plan of action should be if appreciate it. I was working w some roofers but got tired of them lying to me and just being inconsistent, then I find out they're working somebody cuz he sells em Percocet over me and I bust my ass, really. The Bible does say let another man praise you but I'm being fr I work hard so it's their loss. I'm drug free n can pass a test. I live in a halfway house. I have a car. I'm just ready to work man. I wish I could find a lil Fab shop that'd let me come in n just be around it n send me something for proof of residency. Working at a used car lot em as a detailer and they said I will be a salesman soon. It's not paying great but it's guaranteed, steady work. I'd really appreciate a reply man! Just found your vids and I'm loving em! Very helpful I'm watching em, sometimes multiple times tryna learn all I can n get any advantage I can. Take care n God bless you brother!
