As HSP's we feel shame to our core. Luckily there are things that we can do to relieve some of the burden.
My "highly sensitive person" videos are based on Dr. Elaine Aron's research as well as sharing my own personal experience. But your experience might be vastly different from mine. To help each other feel free to share your experience in the comments. By openly discussing our high sensitivity we learn and grow into stronger, happier, more resilient HSP'S!
Thanks for watching!

You know it's a strong and painful emotion when it's discussed so rarely. People talk about anger, happiness, contempt, even sadness, but they rarely openly talk about shame. :) All the best!

Yes, anger is discussed a lot! 😂 You make a good point. Thank for watching, and I look forward to your HSP videos too. 🙏

Another good one. For me, shame is even harder than grief as a feeling. I do agreed that the fear of shame can hold us back from living a fuller life. I think simply not mixing up an embarrassing situation with feeling shame, was a good start for me.

Thank you Shannon. Perhaps my disdain for the human race is a projection of my own shame. As a reaction to that bias I tend to isolate. That way I avoid the self denigration of judgement and having to face my own grasp on this self defeating attitude of shame..

😔 a little self love goes a long way ☺️ Though there are plenty of good reasons to isolate ;)

Shame keeps us from asking for help when we feel we are misunderstood. When you are on the autism spectrum/neurodivergent and also have HSP and look physically normal, people say, just do it! When you can't. 😞

That’s an unfortunate lack of insight and empathy on their behalf. It’s always better to just respect a person’s boundaries and limitations. We all do the best we can, and my best will be different from your best… there’s nothing wrong with that 😊 I appreciate your message 🙏

I love your insight and these videos, I'm sorry you have such a small audience, your information would really help even non hsp's to understand what we feel and experience in our daily lives. Its hard just to be an hsp but I also have another trait, that makes me in the 0.17 % of people who have it, who on OUR own , is a minority. So I'm kind of like highly, highly sensitive. It's no fun really, I wish I knew more hsp's near me to interact with in real life, im sure it would be a blast for hsp's to get together, we would all know what each other is feeling and when we need to leave them alone... I wish I may, I wish I might.

Thank you for your kind words about my channel. I love the support that I get from all of you, it reminds me that I’m on the right path. Elaine Aron’s book saved my sanity so I deeply understand the power of understanding your own traits. I’m sorry you’re struggling a bit, I hope my videos and the HSP community add a little glimmer of insoiration to your day. Isn’t there an HSP friends finder app like the dating apps that help you find HSP’s near you? 🤔 😅 An HSP gathering could be fun but also… maybe a little.. too… quiet… 😂

My 'sister' has shamed me for years. And I am finally finally seeing it and learning how to not be ashamed of myself. A big part of it is staying away from the situation that traumatized me in the first place. Of course, this then means that she wants to shame me for not being a part of her family, but I don't want to be a part of any family that uses shame as a control tactic. It just tells me that I am much more powerful than I've realized. If my absence from her life affects her that much, that she needs to shame me into staying, then I know that I have the power. So, I am choosing to stay away from her as much as possible (until mom leaves, then I will never be a part of her family ever again). It feels good to understand what empowerment really feels like.

There are many of us who's family we don't want to be around as they treat us like lower class people. It's sick and sad

Thank you for sharing that. It can be so powerful when we choose self-love. Hopefully your sister will learn from your example to rise above things like shame. But regardless, it’s amazing that you were able to make that choice, for a happier, healthier life. 😌

Hi again, we finally visited Curacao over New Years. Loved the island but we left seeking "therapy" (small lol). I wouldn't call any of my family HSP, but how did you deal with the "warzone" a.k.a. constant fireworks, that Curacao becomes during the three days prior to New Years ?
@OnTheSensitiveSide
@OnTheSensitiveSide Жыл бұрын
🤣 Now you might understand why my first video here was called “stuck on a rock”?! 😅 You pose a great question: having grown up in Curacao I have to say it has actually gotten less over the years, fire works are more regulated nowadays. But for those couple of days I’m definitely on edge. To me it feels like what I imagine a war zone must be like and I feel for veterans who come home to “safety” only to be exposed to such triggering sounds. But even more so for all the dogs and animals who are terrified because they have no clue what’s going on. Most people even mildly sedate their house pets to keep em calm. It’s a big dilemma. But I hope you enjoyed the island! 😂🙈 It has its beauty too 😉

@@OnTheSensitiveSide Thanks for your insight. Like you say it must be difficult for a lot of people/animals given the extended period of time this goes on for. Don't get me wrong, the island is MOST BEAUTIFUL and we will come back, just not during New Years. Not sure if anybody has mentioned this but given your natural beauty and your camera presence you should find a way to promote the island via the tourist association. I think you would be perfect for the island. Best wishes and we'll keep on watching.
