I've been a die-hard Pentaholic for 3 years now and I absolutely agree with you about three vocalists, one Bass, and one Beatboxer, but of course there are quite a few awesome caveats. Matt can SING, so when he does , Scott takes over the Bass line. Kevin can play Cello. He occasionally sings as well and can actually get into Mitch territory but Mitch of course can still slap everyone when he wants to. Kirstie is the Belter. Scott is the Rocker. They're so skillful and amazing together.

Songs featuring Matt: • "You're A Mean One, Mister Grinch" • "Sound of Silence" • "O Holy Night" ( Their latest release of the song, from their 2023 Christmas album: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJatcohoor2gbtksi=upj2Q3vLqigVEtgm ) The first two of those are from fairly early in Matt's tenure with Pentatonix, and his range has grown a great deal since they were recorded. I believe the reason they made the new recording of "O Holy Night" for the latest album was because they wanted to take full advantage of his current range. But the best song I've found for showing off that range is "Hallelujah." Matt's arrangement of the second verse seems to have been written with that goal specifically in mind. They all really enjoy doing this in concert. It really ups the energy! Mitch has said it’s one of his favorites to sing. His solo original music is a very techno sort of updated 80’s/90’s sound. Check out his latest releases some time. “Oblivion,” “Velvet,” “Agony,” and the completely beautiful “Halfway.”

Here's one for you...probably one of the best LIVE versions of Pentatonix was their "2016 PopSpring" concert, because it was sponsored by MTV, so the audio and video are absolutely first-rate !! Remember Scott, Kirstin aind Mitch were BORN in 92-93. Mitch was a grade behind, but Scott got Mitch to miss his High School Graduation Ceremony for the SING-OFF on NBC. Kirstin was in college in Oklahoma and dropped it for the audition. Amazing was Scott convinced Kevin to fly across the country to audition. Kevin had to finish his schooling and graduated from Yale University-- Pre-med of course. Each member is very talented and an important part of Pentatonix.

I’ve been a fan from the beginning and honestly if I’m just listening, I forget that the bass and percussion is just vocals. I personally think it’s a compliment to them. This pretty much is the Kirstie & Mitch show. Your cheeks get sore with all the Mitch slaps. I’m 63 and wasn’t into this music, except for Cher, fan of hers since the 60’s. In the 90’s I was listening to country and line dancing at the BORDERLINE when it first opened. It’s closed now due to the horrible mass shooting in 2018. Loving you guys. 🤗💋🥰

Part of the charm of this one - in addition to the remarkable vocal talent - is that they are enjoying themselves as much as we are! Mitch is a brilliant mimic, he can imitate all sorts of sounds. Except for the Cher bit near the end, it's all him. I've seen him do this one live. Re 3 vocalists and a bass + beatboxer: remember Matt's amazing vocals during O Holy Night, though. And Kevin has a beautiful sweet voice: hear him in Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Amazing Grace.

Love your reaction to this While I love Kirstie rockin' her big curls (heck, I just love Kirstie no matter what she's doing!), I'm pretty sure the hairstyle is actually a wig. She's known for having a number of them and often wears them on tour, to be able to do different styles and colors without damaging her own hair. Another song in a similar style that you might like is Love Again - a PTX original, and pretty sure to give you a Mitch-slap!

The 3 + 2 formula is exactly how they came about. Mitch, Scott and Kirstie are friends from about Grade 7. Kevin and Avi were grabbed specifically for them to be on The Voice and they just became gold. "Be my Eyes" should be soon on your #PTX list. Written and led by Kirstie. Y'all will love it.
