1977 Pontiac Trans Am finished in its original color combination of starlight black over a red interior. Powering this beast is its original matching numbers Pontiac engine but it has been freshly rebuilt and upgraded heavily. This 400 Pontiac lays down 470hp and 470ftlbs of torque! The car does come with a dyno sheet to prove this statement. Over $12,000 was invested in just the engine of this bird. Backed by an also freshly rebuilt automatic transmission with a yank 2000 stall converter. This bird fly's! Comes with a large folder of receipts proving everything that was completed. The undercarriage is also in fantastic shape with zero rust. Runs and drives fantastic!

I bought a 77 New with the 400. Even though it was DE-tuned it ran pretty good. It rode good and handled pretty good too. I wish I still had it.....

I appreciate anyone and everyone’s passion for Second generation Trans Am’s. Especially the Special Edition Style Smokey & the Bandit. * I owned and Fully Restored a rare 1977 Black & Gold Special Edition Trans Am w/ T-Tops. I was meticulous on Every Single restoration detail because at the time I was working at a Pontiac GM Dealership. * Two huge Visual mistakes here on your video is number one; the front two headlight moldings and trim inside should be Gold! And the Front Nose Pontiac Emblem was not Gold until the 1978 Gold Special Edition T/A! It was still red in 1977 & 1978 on Black T/A’s.

I mean 10 secs 0-60 was slow even for the time as you know all cars were so highly regulated that nobody could talk about "performance" anymore. But when it comes to visual beauty, this car is top of my list to this day, second to none!

I had a 77 Trans Am bought new with the W72. That engine was much better than given credit for. The NHRA dyno tested a stock W72 and it produced 260 hp in stock form. I know on mine I put a true dual exhaust system, rejetted the Quadrajet and recurved the distributor. The thing that really woke it up was when I bought a set of Ram Air IV rocker arms, pushrods and guide plates and installed them. After all of that I was running high 13;s at 101 at Milan Dragway.

In a perfect world I’d have every car I ever liked. Maybe because of Smokey and the Bandit and the fact that I was coming of age in thst era, I always liked the 77-79 TA style. They were unique to their marque and non rebadged Chevrolets.

That is one SWEEEEEET T/A!!! I JUST bought a darn near MINT 1977 Black and Gold Trans-Am. The only thing different is that I have the 403,and mine has the Silver “Engine Turned Dash” and Silver steering wheel (but I DO have the “Year One Snowflakes) I like the Black SE cars…but the Gold Dash…steering wheel…and shift plate is just a WEEEEEE bit too much “Bling” for my personal taste. These cars are AMAZING. Too bad cars of today really don’t have much personality.

I HAD the'77 but with the 403 Olds engine that I believe was introduced later in '77. I had to sell it because my daughter just started college and I just couldn't justify spending money on parts when she needed funds for books, rent, etc. I regret every single day selling my dream car that I wanted since '77 when they movie can't out.

Great video as usual. Just one question... at the end when you talk about high octane classics, you mentioned they have been in business for 15 years, with 15 to go... why 15 years to go? Thanks again for awesome videos.

Yuck, those "upgrades" have to go, but that's just me. From the HOC website, we got the VIN and we win: 2 for Pontiac, W for Trans Am, 87 for two door coupe, Z for 400 V8 with four barrel, Pontiac produced, aka RPO code "L78" or in the case of the higher performance 400, it would be "W72", 7 for 1977 model year, N for Norwood, OH assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Norwood plant closed in August 1987 and production was left up to Van Nuys until the 1992 model year when the plant closed and production was moved to St. Therese, Quebec Canada from 1993 to 2002 (and then that plant closed). We got the tag, we can brag: ST77 for 1977 model year, 2FS87 for Pontiac (2) Firebird (FS) two door coupe (87), N for Norwood, OH assembly, 71R for Firethorn standard vinyl interior trim, A51 for bucket seats, 19L and 19U for Starlight Black lower and upper exterior paint, 04C for the third week of April 1977 production, WS4 for Trans Am and FIR for Firethorn secondary interior trim. Somewhat correct, and the "T/A 6.6" is often applied to cars that it should not be put on because most decal suppliers include it at no charge and make you buy the "6.6 LITRE" decal separately, so most don't bother (or don't know). Here's the breakdown: "T/A 6.6" meant the high-performance W72 version of the Pontiac 400 (200 HP in 1977, 220 in 1978 and 1979). "6.6 LITRE" on the scoop meant a 403 Olds equipped car from 1977-1979 OR for 1977-1978 the BASE Pontiac 400 (180 HP). The base Pontiac 400 has painted valve covers, the W72 has chrome valve covers. This car is an absolute mess. It had AC originally, but has a non-AC reproduction dash plate. It is missing the center caps and the windshield washer hose is missing from the reservoir. The heavy coating of "spray bomb black" tells me it was a mess underneath the hood before the "restoration" started. The interior was swapped out and is the wrong color (it should be red, not black). Yes, it was a code 19 Starlight Black paint car originally. The splitters were standard on most configurations of the Trans Am by 1977.

Nice looking car, and 470hp fast. 400whp, like my modified RT Charger I used to have. That being said, for a T-top SE, its a beer can. No velour interior, no AC. No pw, pdl, or cruise. Just saying...😮

i swear i will never understand these outrageous prices for any old car pre 84 as a old school car guy born in 65 who has owned every thing from k5 4x4 to muscle cars growing up a car guy could buy one ( good running ) for around 2000k to 4500k now the same cars nearly 40 years later cost 40k to 300k even a piece of crap 1984 4 door ford ltd no one wanted back in the day will cost 8500 a rusted out chassis will cost 8k why ? and a bank with good interest rates will not even think about a loan for one so the average gear head is out of luck why ? so mister money bags think they look cool SITTING IN THEIR COLLECTION and then there is people with classics just sitting outside or in a old building not touched in 30 years it makes me sick

That's not a 77 transit especially edition that's a knock off all the transamends and 77 which didn't make it didn't build. Very many of them all came with tea tap rose without automatic could forget it when standard transmission if you got a State or transmission. Then you got a knock off car. I do know cause. I researched it because I bought a 77 transit but I had to get mine from Canada.
