A guy in my home town had one of these in the late 70’s. He bought from the original owner and did a light restoration and flipped it. Being in Minnesota there was even then some minor rust repair and he did a repaint. Black and white stripes just like this one. It was a beast. Don’t remember seeing too many of these regardless. Mostly the 396 varieties.

A long time ago, occasionally referred to as the early 80s, there was an article in Hot Rod showcasing a guy drag racing a convertible LS6. I can only recall parts of the article, but he truly ran it budget minded. Worn out shocks in front (to help with weight transfer) and he found the slight flex of the convertible helped him launch better. Back when these were “just 10 year old cars”. This one is stunning and checks all the boxes. Thanks for sharing ~ Chuck

My neighbor had a beautiful black coupe SS 454, 4spd posi. I ❤it. His was da LS5, 365hp. It was AWESOME. He'd let me drive it (ofcourse, he went too), & would tell me ,on 3rd U making a turn! Dats how much torque dis beast had. My dad had a '70 Riviera GS Stage 1, & I would be dumb racing my pal on deserted roads. My dad's Riv was heavier , plus fully equipped. 1 thing, he couldn't LOSE ME. Dat Stage 1 could melt da 2tires . Good ole days. Wen driving was FUN!!! & even premium gas was cheap. But, we complained,anyway ❤

Why wasn't the lower-horse (360) LS5 mentioned as well, Steve? As rare as these "hens teeth" LS6's were, the L78 was MORE rare, ie. 4,475/LS6 vs. 2,144/L78.

@1Barista1 Жыл бұрын
It's not. It's a fairly good recreation, but the real Chevelle nerds can spot a bunch of incorrect stuff here. (silver dash circles, master cylinder, tach, etc).

Same boxed frame in wagons and El Caminos, right? Also, a 396 4-speed '70 SS Chevelle would've been my first 'good' car if it hadn't been for Reaganomics making my old man have to sell it (I was born in 1985). As it stood, it was a 383 4-speed '68 Dart GTS, so I didn't miss it, because I like a smaller car anyway.
@markg7030 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear your family suffered under Regan. He fired the air traffic controllers and destroyed the unions for years to come and don't forget he closed the mental hospitals and put the patients on the streets. Convertibles come with the boxed frame.
