A grandma driving terios is the most badass thing I can imagine
@8027265042 жыл бұрын
I've had a '08 Terios Kiri for 11 years. I wanted a small practical 4x4 to replace my company car when I retired. Brilliant car, ultra reliable - no repair costs except one coil, tyres and brake pads and yearly service and MOT. Takes 4 adults plus luggage - we have toured Europe. Bit buzzy at 75+ (could do with 6th gear), but pleasant to drive. Permanent 4wd with lockable diff makes it good for moderate off road and snowy conditions. If I could buy the same car new I would.

Brilliant little cars, ran one for 4 years, totally reliable ..bomb proof.. but getting bits is difficult, I had to have a stainless steel exhaust made as i couldn't buy a standard exhaust anywhere, still I actually regret selling mine as had low mileage and a fantastic service history, a shame Daihatsu pulled out of the UK , I had a sportrak and a fourtrack years ago...
@mowtownni45872 жыл бұрын
I have owned three Daihatsu,s over the years a Sportrak, which was a very capable off roader, a mk1 terios that saved the day one very snowy winter, sadly chassis corrosion killed it off, then a cheap little Sirion as a runabout. Daihatsu was a very underrated manufacturer.

I am old enough to remember when Suzuki first released a four wheel drive model. In those days we thought they only made motor bikes. The original actually had a motor bike engine (I could be wrong), Itwas hilarious - having a 4 speed manual, a pal of mine had one, and it sounded ludicrous; reviving like a sewing machinene, eventually reaching about 40mph sounding like a strummer! The amazing thing was that he hitched it up to a trailer, filled with nearly two tons of sand & gravel & drove it back home using low range. He didn’t endear himself to other road users -espially when the lights changed during a.right hand turn, during which he was already in top.gear before he’d finished the turn.

I’ve been driving for 34 years both commercially and domestically and I can say with confidence that all of the bad/risky driving I’ve witnessed has been by Males. Sure I think most women drive ‘slower’ than most men would but they are primarily very safety conscious, I’d accept this every day with children in the car - who become a very precious cargo.

My family still have the J100 Terios but it's called the Perodua Kembara (Kembara = adventure). Bought since new and has been reliable ever since. The Nautica unfortunately did not sell very well as Toyota sells the 7 seater rwd Rush instead of the Nautica's 5 seater 4wd. Not to mention the price was very pricey at the time as the Nautica was a CBU unit from Japan, the Rush was build in Indonesia.

Had one as a loan car while my Sirion was being serviced and it was fantastic, gear change a little notchy but not really a problem. Also while at the London motor show a few years ago myself and some friends were taken on the assault course in a Terios auto and have to say it kept up with all the other stuff including Landrover. Yes rust is a problem, better rust protection from the start would have been a good idea, shame the dealers didn't think of that as they would have made an extra few quid. Parts for all Daihatsu models is the major issue and the only reason I parted with mine, 13 years old and never missed a beat.
