Only possible reason I can imagine the previous owner was considering scrapping the car was the engine light. Some folk think that little symbol glowing on the panel means the engine is finished, rather than it requiring investigation to see how major or minor an issue it indicates. Volvos are one of the hardest cars to write off, they are usually capable of giving a bit more service than may appear to be the case at first glance.

Ever seen the old Volvo P1800? One of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. Look at the back of it. You won't believe it's a Volvo.

Had the t5 version, great wee quick, quiet, and really comfy car. Liked it so much we replaced it with the t5 awd v50 of the same platform.

Always loved the design of the C30, especially nice with the 2.4 petrol. Great car

You have done a wonderful thing! What a lovely car and probably a future classic. Your videos inspire me to take extra special care on my 2007 Volvo V70. Keep up the good work!

Great cars these. Owned a nice spec S40 of this era and driven the C30 a few times as a family member had one. Although looking a bit dated these days, definitely doesn't feel it's age to drive one. I do much prefer the revised newer shape C30, but still. You really can't go wrong with one of these as a first car, second car or simply a cheap reliable mode of transport. Performs equally well around town as it does motorway driving. This particular one is for sure one of the best examples I've seen.

6:35 Yes that should be black. One strange thing I remeber about the C30 was that it was available in Sweden with different wraps direct from the factory. I don't know if this was ever available on any other market. We are not talking one colour wraps but wraps in different patterns. They were all rather wierd and expensive. It didn't sell well. I think it was only available the first model year.

Uber cool car, what a great service you've done saving this one, on my wish list along with a BMW estate for taking the husky out and I think I'm sorted

Very nice looking motor there Matt - Glad it got the High Peak Auto rescue service, definitely too good to scrap.

I've always liked the C30. It's a real shame Volvo didn't continue with it. But they were ahead of the curve in dropping small cars in favour of larger SUVs.

It was the Volvo 480. Dad had a G-reg 1989 turbo, loved the turbo-boost gauge!

In a world of Maxi's and Allegro's, the 480ES was sublime ❤

Was coming into the comments to say this, love the styling of those 480s but from what I’ve heard they have terrible electrical issues

Was waiting for this one! I own a C30 1.6L, absolutely love it. Nice interior, looks great and pulls really well for such a small engine.
