Matt you must be the only car dealer in the UK that go to the lengths you do to prepare a car. Credit to you. I bought an Audi A4 from a local dealer a month ago and driven it once not seen it since. It had no coolant in it after getting it home realising that the heaters didn't work and after filling it up it all disappears shortly after. You'd think they'd at least check the basics before the car leaving.

But you are right, its really not worth the work for that margin. You could have possibly traded it on for a few quid and saved the hassle. Great video as always Matt.

In the first 500 miles i had a HG valve malfunction but 13 years later, 126k on the clock, two MOT fails, (leaky shocks) and some usual discs, pads, and two caliper issues. Always put the best tyres on the back, regardless of FWD or RWD. That's because lifting off the throttle transfers most of the mass of the vehicle onto the front wheels, lightening the load on the rears & causing them to lift slightly. With the worst tyres on the rear, this can cause lift-off oversteer (where the back of the vehicle suddenly tries to overtake the front). Having the worst tyres on the front can lead to understeer (where the front of the vehicle is reluctant to turn) but this is more progressive &, therefore, more controllable. Any decent tyre fitter or mechanic will refuse to put the worst tyres on the back.
@gravemind6536
@gravemind6536 9 ай бұрын
Shit tyres on the front causing boat loads of understeer lead to snap oversteer anyway because when they finally regain traction it will jolt the back end sideways. The front tyres are also what stop your car, its important to have good tyres all round.
@chrishart8548
@chrishart8548 9 ай бұрын
I'm in full agreement with you but it seems so common new tyres just on the front only. Makes me wish all cars were rear wheel drive it would sort out this issue., the argument often is if they move the rear tyres to the front they will need more tyres sooner.

@@chrishart8548I fully get your dad. I stopped rotating tyres as they would wear out evenly. It was never nice buying four tyres at once. I know it's more a psychological thing, but I can handle buying two tyres more often. The new ones always go at the back. I have an AWD that I always replace all four when necessary. It's never nice, but I do it cause I feel like I don't have much choice. With my FWD, it's all in my hands, then; why not opt out of buying four at a go.

Yes the locks are another problem BUT you can repair them with no extra parts needed. The locking mechanism you need to strip down and clean the motor windings. The brushes put a coating on the little motors and a good clean up with wire wool sorts the problem.

Tiny profit but huge satisfaction at a job well done? Maybe?! Sadly you can’t pay your bills with satisfaction. 😆 Another properly sorted car though, Matt. Great work.

The way I look at it: 7,5% profit in around 4 weeks... that's 90% for a year Compare it to what you get in a bank... Not bad 😀

Good afternoon Matt nice little video and a really good car but I do think you might want to sell it because what's going to happen as we both know you're going to put it in your garage somewhere forget all about and in 2 years late you're gonna think I don't remember this so you're better off just selling it for you'll probably get 3 1/2 grand for it as it is today so sell it....cheers Phil from Newark

I just recently sold my 08 2.0tdi that's been a great car for 240k and it's still on the road. If properly looked after, those will just keep going and going. And in misano red was still a head turner despite it's age :)

Unusual to have a petrol version an the A4 of this age as most were bought as company cars so were diesel engined, before diesel became unfashionable.

Diesels were doing really well in 2011. Mpg. Peaked. And loads were really cheap road tax often £0 for a large family estate car.

Matt I know plates and buffing are something of a thing for you😜 Original plates always a good idea as indicates it hasn't had a bump. How about replacing the rusty screws and adding the plates to your buffing rota?

Another entertaining vid, as usual. Perhaps you could have asked more for it Matt, like 6,500. What car are you initially driving? The C pillar, (or is it the B pillar) is massive.

You will have made a future owner happy and no doubt he will come back and buy another car and refer you to friends and relatives. Consider it a good investment for the future, good deeds always come back not always when you expect it to!

These burn oil for fun, being a Gen2 TFSi it will likely be suffering the piston ring issue that plagued these. Never buy a TFSi or an Auto on the B8 platform....almost a guarantee of failure...! Water in the boot is common as the inner rear cluster seals fail and floods the boot and corrodes the wiring in the bootlid
