I bought a facelift model new in 2014 and I still have it. I’ve had many cars over the last 50 years and this one has been the best car I have owned. The build quality is superb and the car has been reliable and economical, averaging 55mpg driving smoothly and gently. The local Peugeot dealer has offered me £3000 to part exchange which is ridiculous. I have looked after the car and have decided to keep it for as long as possible. I am certainly not paying £20,000 upwards, plus my car for a three year old car which won’t do any more than my present car.

It's much easier for the new owner to remove something they don't like than have to pay to have it fitted..so i think that was a good shout leaving it all in

Neighbours of mine have one of these - they also have two sets of young twins and a dog. It is driven carefully, with by the book servicing. No issues and fine for their needs. The dog is a Cavapoo and doesn't shed hair. Like you, they say it doesn't respond well to aggressive driving but fine for tours and everyday needs.

Hi Matt I brought a 12 - plate 3008 1.6Hdi manual back in Dec 16 with 55000 and had NO issues in the 5 years and 40000miles of ownership and it PASSED every MOT.....so I brought a facelift 16-plate BlueHDi in Dec 2021 and so far so good. Averaging 45-50mpg and they both averaged 65/68mpg on a long run

That EGC box is known to be a nightmare. I worked for a Pug dealership years ago. Saw loads of unhappy semi auto buyers. You don’t have to release that handbrake to pull away. The car will know you are wanting to move and release it automatically. It’s an exclusive trim level. Top of the range. Ugly cars, but I would only ever buy one with a manual box. Great vid.👍🍻

There's honesty if ever I saw it..... My Golf's electronic handbrake worked in the way you describe Jonathan. Set the handbrake to auto, and it sorted itself out. You set off, and it automatically released. You stop and apply the footbrake, and the handbrake goes on.

I have just this week sold my 2013 manual 3008. I had it for 5 years and the only issue i had was a fuel rail pressure sensor go bad £30 repair and very occasionally a handbrake fault but if you remove the switch and dismantle & clean it it works fine, dirt gets inside it so a good clean with electrical cleaner does the trick. If you service it properly they are very good cars. I think when these first came out they had an injector issue but i think a recall fixed it.

I've spent quite a bit of time in various Peugeots. I liked the 504 really liked the 505 Gti, and thought the 309 was more grown up than the contemporary Escort and Astra. But..... er, the DS3 I used as a courtesy car wound me up as for 4 days I couldn't work out how to retune the radio, or even turn it off. It was via a touch screen. I work for a certain police force and during lockdown was on different duties and travelled all over the North West, Staffordshire, North Wales and up to the Scottish Borders. I did that in a Peugeot 307 with the 1.6 diesel. It was great, until about 70,000 miles it broke down on the motorway and had to be recovered. It was back a week later, and then broke down again three days later. It went back on a truck. It came back again a week later and lasted all of three hours before...... it was on the back of a truck. It was destined for only one fate, namely to limp through the auctions. Cue the arrival of a Hyundau i30. With more miles on it than the 307. It was faultless. Since then I've used quite a few 308s and they've been OK. We've tended to have the 1.2 three cylinder variant which go quite well, for a while. Once they get up above 75,000 miles they drink more oil than l do beer, in a figurative sense. You could check the level at the start of the shift and it was full. The next shift would come on and it would be halfway down. In some cases you'd get a message saying "STOP!!". At one stage the decision was made to swap the engine of one for another that had been written off. That engine had about 20K on the clock. A week later the expansion tank contained a black liquid instead of pink. Back to workshop and another engine transplant. If you were getting one on PCP and gave it back with 30K showing it could be a good car to have. But if you are the third owner with quite a lot of miles on the clock, I'd suggest parking it behind a reversing HGV and run away.

The only thing I don't like about the 1.2 is steering wheel vibration. After a 250 mile journey I got nerve damage in both hands. But they go well.

@High Peak Autos: Kormoran tyres are produced by Polish company Stomil-Olsztyn. The brand has been around since 1994, but the manufacturing facility actually began producing tyres in 1959. That long history itself is reassuring, but what really makes the case for Kormoran is its ownership. The Kormoran brand is part of the Michelin group

We run one of these, the facelift model, with the full automatic Toyota gearbox, great car, if it's the 1.6 diesel, you should change the oil frequently, I do mine even 7000 miles, also with the facelift the addblue systems are garbage, but these are pretty good cars. My wife had a Peugeot 308SW and we will never forget driving on one journey looking back out our girls in the back engulfed in smoke. I stopped the car immediately and we all jumped out as the smoke completely filled the cabin. luckily it didn't catch on fire and the cause later identified as a wiring issue. No surprise that nobody in the family ever wanted to travel in it again and we will never own a Peugeot again.

Test drove the automated manual a few years back and everything change it makes there's a slight jerk.Salesman said that's because you have to 'learn' how to drive it.Apparently even though it's auto ,to get a smooth (smoother) experience, you must feel when is about to change up and release gas pedal slightly.Needless to say I walked away !

A friend of mine has a 3008 and loves it....but like you Matt I'm not a Peugeot fan ( but I like the split tailgate)....Just to out 'nerd' you the wind deflectors on the rear passenger doors are on the wrong sides.... (the narrow bit goes to the back of the car)....Yes, you guessed I like the wind deflectors and have them on my Vitara! 😁

Kormoran and Tigar are brands in the Michelin group. They are the same pattern as the Tigar I have, meaning not the quietest or particularly great in poor weather but better than an ovation or linglong

We were literally given a Shitroen C4 1.6 HDi with this funky gearbox, we took it from 30k to 80k and all I did was change the oil religiously every 6 months, never went near the gearbox and it was absolutely fine. Apparently the gearbox on these is a distant relative of the old Fiat ‘SeleSpeed’ unit made by Magneti Morelli.

The very car which caught my attention looking on your website today... It seems as if a 3008 could represent peak ( no pun intended) value for family car, spacious, comfortable, & with that almost unique tailgate too. One to watch...? Robot gearboxes seem like a problem waiting to happen though. Nice to see evidence of an enthusiastic former owner, rare unless it's a pampered Porsche...

Another great video from you Matt. I'm a car add comber even if I am not buying because I love to see whats what. I also like the 3008, and in a search, I found a 2010 3008 1.6 HDi with 216,000 miles on the clock so if you're 3008 had needed a new gearbox I would have done it because if looked after, there is another 100,000 miles left on that car. I was recently walking past my local petrol station, and a 307 diesel drove out of it, and it was 2005

Apologies for the dull comment but Kormoran Tyres are a Polish subsidiary of Michelin and definitely a rung up from your usual ditch finders.

My late step father (a transport manager for a large oil company) would agree 100% with your statement about anything can be reliable if you look after it. He had a version of the saying there are no bad dogs just bad dog owners. Substitute cars for dogs and there you have it. Bit extreme but there is an element of truth in it. Enjoyable video. What sort of bird does brown poo as opposed to white? We need to know.

Turned out well, but it now has mismatched front tyres on the driving axle. Would have made sense to put the two rear Kormoran tyres to the front axle. Decent colour, decent spec etc I am sure it will sell in no time 👍

In France it’s a legal requirement to change both across the axle at the same time regardless of the condition of the remaining tyre to retain the same brand and wear. If one has an AWD then it’s all four but tbf one should always do that anyway. I wouldn’t touch an awd with odd tyres. I feel that could become law in the uk at some time too.
