Like the light interiors. As a two car Merc owner where the options are basically black, black or black I'm good to see. At 70k miles and £4k it's good for a young family. Hopefully 10-20k trouble free and a nice panoramic sunroof to amuse the kids on a long run.

The diesel engines from Peugeot and Citroen are usually quite good, but all petrol engines from 2006 onwards from Peugeot and Citroen (Vti and Puretech) are known for severe oil consumption and internal pollution in the cilinders. So beware of that.

Check to see if it's got 4 wheel arches. Then do a Car Horizontal check ✅ for servicing at the MOT.

I have a similar problem that many others do on here.. I watch these videos purely for entertainment purposes and not because I was really interested in a used 3008, nor that I ever will. Well done, great vid as always. Love to see these ‘old’ cars come back to life by someone who cares (maybe sometimes too much 💷😅)

I'll tell you what, Matt, Peugeot should be paying you commission for these videos. Despite being an older model, I thought the interior was well looked after and well spec'd. Although I counted 6 Mats, including you. Whatever small profit you made on this, it looked great when you had the work done and will serve someone well for years to come. So even if your bank balance doesn't benefit too much, you're banking points with the man upstairs and stopping good cars getting scrapped. Win win.

The only thing that matters for peugeots from this era is, is it a diesel. Because the 1.6 vti and 1.6 thp are completely garbage. Engines are ruined at 100k miles.

Matt, I think your prelinary hopeful budgeting is somewhat out. I simply can't imagine you buying a 14 year old mass produced car and then bringing it up to YOUR IMPECCABLE STANDARDS for anything less than a Grand!!. No really. I own Peugeots for years and I know old THP engines aren't great..if you wanna get then definitely diesel . Their HDI engines are great, reliable and so cheap to maintenance. I spend about 50£ / year for oil , filters. That's it as I didn't change anything else and They're Superb on fuel. I know for sure Mk1 308 1,6 HDI done world record as well as couple in Australia done 1190 miles on full tank! (60l) which is ridiculous 🙆 I owned same 308 1,6 HDI sport for 5 and half years and I managed to do over 1000 miles on full tank. Crazy. That car didn't cost me anything to run and maintenance really. 2l HDI is even better. They're bulletproof.

Sold my 2012 5008 1.6 thp with 25k miles in 2020.. 2nd worst car I've ever owned. Tappet cover, 500 pound. High pressure fuel pump, 800 pound. Heater core 400 pound. All door seals 300 pound. Then I made a bigger mistake by buying a GL Merc

You're a glutton for punishment! There are clubs for that sort of thing in London without buying a Peugeot! That was the same spec as my dad's old 3008 albeit he had a wheelchair hoist fitted in the back and his was a Semi Auto. His car always had problems with air con although it wasn't broken as such. What we did was keep turning the temp knobs to "Lo" and sometimes that made the flaps work or put it in "Mono" mode so both zones where the same. Other than that and the constant breakdowns it wasn't too bad. I think all older Peugeots are just unreliable. My 207cc is rubbish along with my old 1007 that refused to start and that was that. In the end we sold the 3008 to "We Buy Any Car" and got only £500 less than what we paid for it second hand. But the old adage is that "the more you put in, the more you get out". I always say to people have them serviced every 10k and not 20k and they'll keep going despite everything else falling to bits. But in a way I sort of wished I kept it as it was the most practical car I ever had especially with the massive load space and the split tailgate. They always felt bigger than what they were.

Hi Matt. You are your own worst enemy, in a nice way. Selling as good as you can make it, costs money, that many dealers wouldn't pay out for. So your margins are always going to be tight. However buyers will know it's as good or better than they will find elsewhere. Your certainly not in the Arthur Daley mould. would I buy from you with peace of mind, YES, YES.

They're cheap to run, maintenance and insure and if you're doing regular service nothing going to be wrong with them. I had Peugeots for years (12+) and They were running absolutely faultless no issues whatsoever. I won 308 SW 2l HDI 15 years old with 170k on clock and it's sweet. It just passed MOT no problem. Them engines are bulletproof. Then I have mk2 308 GTi BPS which I own for nearly 6 and never had single issue 🙏. Peugeots are great affordable cars and you'll get a lot for the money.
