@@IceKnight81 The popular British tea brands *absolutely need* the milk and sugar to make them palatable. The Japanese teas, Chinese teas,and Indian teas that I've tried don't. That's not to say that I like every variety of the asian teas, but they do seem to have more heft. Every brand of British tea that I've tried is very drying in the mouth, and it tastes like they packaged the tea dust that fell on the floor rather than the actual tea that had been dried.

Jaffa cakes are occasionally available in the USA. The ALDIs chain (German origin grocery chain that’s spread across the USA and known for offering good prices with simple offerings - only one brand of each item rather than the typical US style of offering a whole suite of brand options for every item) is where I most commonly find them. But yeah, they’re not something you generally expect to find as a common snack.

2:40 I think that’s part of the reason why coffee surpasses hot tea in popularity in the US Because coffee, even when not made very strongly, has a much stronger flavor than tea I think Americans just enjoy the strong flavor of coffee to perk them up in the morning, along with the actual caffeine content
@brandonaston301

I probably wouldn’t do this since I don’t like hot tea and I’m guessing it wouldn’t be as good in iced tea. I don’t dip cookies in liquids in general.

We have a California based-brand called Knott’s Berry Farm in the US who have long made these little packaged cookies similar to Jammy Dodgers I believe they’re shortbread cookies with a jam “thumbprint” in the middle I think they were more popular in the ‘90s; today you can mostly find them in small bags sold in vending machines, and once they go stale the jam falls off them, fully petrified like a hard candy and ready to get stuck in your teeth 😂

These kids are truly representative of LA. Curious, and trying things out, food wise. As an Angeleno, I can relate. With so many cuisines in LA, there's hardly anything I dislike. I'm American of Salvadoran heritage and, it's almost second nature to find different food and if we love it, we love it.

Nah, it’s not a regularly carried item, but it is possible to find. I usually see them show up available from the ALDIs chain a few times a year (not positive if it’s a seasonal thing or if they just offload when the supplier has a surplus). And I feel like I’ve seen them at other grocery stores on very rare occasions.

I drink more tea than coffee and it does stain the teeth more. I noticed Digestives at my Supermarket. I know of them but I had enough cookies in my pantry that day so next time I will try. I don’t recall if it had chocolate, I only glanced but I will look in back to see if made in England. Normally that would be in a specialty aisle but they have cookies made in France in same aisle and I’ve tried those and they were very good. It’s always way more soothing to have a break with a hot cup of tea, especially in cool weather.

Tea does stain teeth. It's true. It cause most teas contain tannin that causes staining of the teeth. It happens gradually tho, so its not noticeable until its is. And yes, most of us know that Britains don't stick out their pinkies, but when I was taking classes of etiquette they grilled that into me. So sticking out the pinky Ilhas sorta become an American thing. Don't know where it started, but its our now lol

The pinky thing is not a drinking thing. It's an eating thing. Spices used to be very expensive, so one would never put spices on one's food. Too wasteful. Instead, you would have a tiny spice cup you wet your pinky finger and then dip it into the spice cup. Then after taking a bite of food, you would then suck/lick the pinky, hence holding the pinky up to keep the spices.

Americans eat their cookies with milk or coffee. I wonder if they were given a little milk and sugar in their tea would they like it better? They also mentioned it being quite watery. Did they steep the tea bags long enough? On the other hand, Americans generally prefer the robust flavor of coffee with cream and sweetener so it may be too mild for their taste. It reminds me of how the Italians and French enjoy their expresso, but most Americans find it off-putting and far too strong a flavor.

I'm okay that we have different names for cookies and biscuits. I've accepted that you dunk your cookies in tea rather than milk. But what I can't get over is the absolutely horrible name for your #1 cookie, Digestives. It sounds like you guys enjoy eating laxatives. Then, to make things worse, I learned that the cookie got it's name BECAUSE two Scottish doctors invented them to aid in digestion. So they literally were laxatives, but the ingredients have since changed and you kept the name. It's like if Americans loved a type of cookie called PoopMakers and didn't think it was strange.
