Good grief!...At 2:36 you can hear a steam train engine whistle from not too far off. Lotta folks nowadays have never heard one, lol. When first aired, this series was at the top of "primetime TV", and this was only a couple years after TV networks finally went to a "set schedule", and NONE were on 24 hours per day for a few more years after this. They signed off at night with the playing of our National Anthem.

This is actually a very interesting episode... with two non-stars who became mega-stars. Guy Williams (real name Armando Joseph Catalano) (identified in another comment) who was (and still is the ONLY Zorro 😉... also Dr. John Robinson in Swiss Family Robinson and did some time on the Ponderosa as well)... and John Hart (appears just before Guy Williams in front of the map with Broderick Crawford). John Hart starred in The Last of the Mohicans as “Hawkeye”... but also spent one season behind the mask as The Lone Ranger working with Jay Silverheels (Tonto). Hart got the part as there was a contract dispute between the studios and Clayton Moore who returned for seasons 4 and 5.Hart did season 3 and was never popular. Hart also appeared as The Lone Ranger in an episode of Happy Days... and is Fonzie’s hero! For true trivia buffs, Hart did play opposite Clayton Moore as other characters in the Lone Ranger series. And for those who never connected the dots, Art Gilmore... narrator for this show did many others including Dragnet. He appeared in that show as a captain.

*The actor who played the scuba diver (Stuart Whitman) appeared in six episodes of Highway Patrol - once as a scuba diver and five times as a uniformed Highway Patrol officer assisting Dan Mathews. Later, he went on to guest star in dozens of TV series, including starring in a TV Western called "Cimarron Strip". In 1961 he starred in the movie "The Mark", and was nominated for an Academy Award. He also starred in a number of other movies as well. And, up until just a short while ago (March 2020) he was still alive. He died at age 92.*

Damn! Really?! That right there takes away the reality of the story. You would think real money would be used to make the moment seem realistic. Wow

First time I ever saw real US money being used in a movie or TV show was in Psycho. It came out in 1960, so they must have changed the law around that time.

Correction...Man on the beach...SCUBA diver.(With tanks) NOT skin diver (without tanks)

Term of the time. The modern scuba wasn't patented until 1945. Prior to that, diving was pretty much limited to the "hard hat" attached to the dry suit and lead boots. The term "skin diver" refered to diving "in you skin" as opposed to the heavy rubber suit and helmet. Snorkeling didn't become a thing until the sixties. Hell, even Mike Nelson refered to himself as a "skin diver".

When Dan approached those kids you would have thought the kids would have sensed 'stranger danger" !!. Nowadays that would positively apply. 25:16

What I've noticed with criminal's on this show is they get away with the first crime but it's always that One last score that always get them caught in the end
