Community post update here, very important so I copy and pasted it: Important Announcement for the Higurashi and Umineko connections video: I've taken a few days to think this over post because a lot of people in my discord approached me with concern for my health. I think that in hindsight, doing 90 minutes worth of content in 2 weeks was probably not smart as I was definitely not taking very good care of myself. Due to this, I've been taking a break from work these last few days. Its because of these breaks, and finding out that Umi 8 is necessary to read that the Higurashi and Umi connections video is probably going to have to be delayed a week. I know its likely not what you guys want to hear, but I still have a lot left to do and I don't want to give you guys halfassed content. I need to take today off as I'm still having a bit of physical issues, and I need to finish Umi's 8th episode. I am really sorry. I have no idea if this will be able to make up for this weeks lack of content, but I know people have been wanting the Higurashi thumbnails for wallpapers so I've compiled them all into a folder for you to have. We're supposed to be getting another Sotsu PV this weekend, so we'll see if that brings any more to the table for possible solving in the next video. 26:18 ~ Reguarding your theory on that, (I can’t be the only one!) that’s noticed Featherine’s bells, from her staff, ringing in scenes. This one and similar. Few and far between, ofcourse. But, I believe that in those moments; she is imbuing whomever with Stage 5. Therefore hallucinations would be a viable assumption. I also believe these are being done, without Satako’s knowledge. Certain peoples breakdowns rather then, The ones Satako had injected, herself.

I personally believe that Ooishi got Hinamizawa Syndrome naturally in Tataridamashi. I believe there are many reasons to support this. (I've heard from other people that Ryukishi07 has confirmed that Ooishi's HS was natural, but I wasn't able to find a source for that.) Ooishi has always had an obsession with figuring out the murders during the dam war. He believed that these murders were caused by the residents of Hinamizawa, and this already places a rift between him and the village. This feeling can be observed to be mutual as seen with the villagers calling him "Oyashiro's Messanger". Now fast forward to the events of Tataridamashi. He probably already knows/believes that the idea of Teppei abusing Satoko in this arc is false, since in Satokowashi, Ooishi saw Teppei standing up for Satoko. The idea that the village is gathering together in order to get Teppei arrested for his "crimes" that Teppei probably didn't do enrages him, and most likely advances the stages of his HS throughout Tataridamashi; his conspiracy theories he already had about Hinamizawa only eroding his mind further. This is probably why he interferes with their gathering and observes what the villagers are doing, as well as why he feels far more aggressive in this arc than he usually does. He never directly supports this gathering, instead implying that he does to people he talks to. Examples of this include him only telling Keiichi to "show him what he's got", and saying that he "doesn't doubt for a second that [Keiichi]'s doing the right thing". He is looking for proof that the villagers were behind the murders, and that they're a mob that's a ticking timebomb, similar to back then during the dam wars. While he's talking with his fellow officer about Keiichi, he claims that "Now's the time to let [Keiichi] be the star, and for us to play pretend", implying that they are about to do something deceitful later on. In fact, he actually prevents the main characters from heading to Satoko's house and insists that he will go there instead. We have no idea what happens between Ooishi leaving to Satoko's house and Satoko's last phone call to Keiichi in this arc, but this gap in time may be the time period where he eventually reaches L5. This observation also adds a little more context to what L5 Ooishi was saying to Rika, about how he "solved the mystery of the murders," and how "Rika was behind it all", why he massacred everyone indiscriminately at the time, and how all the murders were "because of this village".

Tataridamashi wouldn't surprise Satoko. She already knows the entire town is capable of caring for her, as she has seen Minagoroshi's fragment. That's why I find it hard to believe that anything that happened in Tataridamashi would have affected her so much. Speaking of Tataridamashi, the manga version of the arc was wildly different. Give it a look.

Another thing that people tend to overlook is that Hinamizawa Syndrome was seemingly cured due to Hanyuu's disappearance. Since she doesn't exist in the later arcs, there would be no way for anyone to naturally go L5 unless they were injected, or if they were directly targeted by Eua.

The syndrome is still alive and kicking in these loops, and Keiichi clearly developed the syndrome naturally in onidamashi-hen (also, two people with the syndrome in that one, so at least one has to develop it naturally).

@@saxor96 It goes away slowly as Hanyuu disappears. Irie stated it himself, the root cause of the syndrome has changed, and Rika says it's because Hanyuu learned to trust humanity. If it wasn't a big plot element, it wouldn't have been brought up.

For the 3rd arc: We actually got a list of facts from Ryukishi07 sometimes during satokowashi-hen. There he stated that Ooishi reached L5 naturally (and that satoko faked vomitting in the same arc, among others). Furthermore, the manga for the 3rd arc had a pretty extreme change during the finale. There, Keiichi never went to Satoko's home. Instead, everything that Teppei did was transferred over to Ooishi during watanagashi. Keiichi tried to stop him from beating Rika to death.

Something I noticed while you were talking about the opening is they are all, for the most part, standing where they committed murders. Keichii in the school (Rikas body in the bathroom), Shion/Mion in their own home where Shion killed her family, and mion killed shion for doing so, and maybe Rika, and If what you said is true, Rena killing Rina in the junkyard. Satoko is a little unclear whether or not she killed rika and them in the school when she pulled out the gun, but it also fits.

This series was and is a spectacularly wonderous but slightly frustrating puzzle, I enjoyed it but maybe connected a small fraction of what was really going on (especially in Gou)... But I really appreciate, as I'm sure many of us do, you putting so much mind bendingly hard work fitting these pieces together for us, because it really makes the series more enjoyable having more clues as to what we are watching and why. Watadadamashi-hen Kenichi killing Rika make too much sense! Other proof of him hallucinating is Mion's eye going like cat eyes in the ladder. This was the same in the first Higurashi when Kenichi was hallucinating about Rena and Mion trying to kill him. These eyes weren't shown when Shion did the ladder scene in the original Watadamashi-hen. You are just amazing! Thank you for the content.

I disagree with the theory surrounding Rika's death. We are told in the last episode of Onidamashi that Rika's death happens the day *after* Rena's. Based on the other evidence in the Sotsu trailers inclusing Rika freaking out in her own house, the knife stabbing down with the arm swinging inwards, and the fact that Satoko's shoes are clean and she arrives to find the house full of blood, I think that the easier solution is that Rika learned of Rena's death and Keiichi's injury the next day and killed herself to reset the timeline. Satoko arrived with her own knife originally planning to kill Rika herself, but finding that Rika had already 'left', she put her knife away and used Rika's knife to follow her.

In the tadaridamashi-hen's manga, the ending is a bit different. Keiichi is also at the festival when Ooishi attacks. Satoko tries to pull him away, but he goes back to save Rika and in this scene it shows Satoko's hand balled up into a fist. He also gets smashed in the head with the bat, but survives this again...somehow... and when he is in the hospital (the manga's background calendar confirms it is September when he wakes up) Rena tells him that she watched Satoko walk up to Ooishi and say something before being killed herself. I find this interesting for 2 reasons: 1. The fist is probably her getting angry that he chose rika over her, which explains how in Nekodamashi-hen, he ends up being one of the people with the syndrome. 2. Satoko walking up to Ooishi was seen by Rena, which makes me wonder if Rena will remember this in a future arc. I mean, Satoko being sus in tadaridamashi-hen increased by A LOT in the manga XD

Another point for Keichii killing Rika is her reaction postmortem. She is shocked compared to her usual dead-eyes look of “I knew it was gonna happen, just kill me”. It was someone she never thought was going to kill her. Originally I thought it was Mion but it can go for Keichii as well. Neither of these two have killed her before.

Just finished the 3rd chapter of Umineko when the video dropped lol. No way I'm finishing Umineko by the time your next video comes out. But man really excited to get to the answer arcs since I know the anime never got that far. And I watched the anime way back when it first came out. So up to this point I've had a vague sense of familiarity as I read it. And the answer arcs will be completely new to me. Ahhh I wanna say more but don't wanna spoil stuff for anyone that might stumble across my comment. I will say I currently have the urge to just say, "NOW SAY IT IN RED!" while pointing like a certain Ace Attorney every once in a while XD Anyways, nice video as usual! When Rika figured out she was a looper? The box was to fool Satoko. She was overly kind and playing into what Satoko wanted, completely catching Satoko off guard. She believed it was going to be the same gift that punched her and Rika knew this. She changes the gift into a bear simply to catch the reaction that Satoko would have if she was a looper.

So a few of my theories run along similar to yours with a few differences. In watadamashihen i think satoko actually went to the mountain hounds before going to the sonozaki estate. Even if takano gave up and turned herself in they would want to confirm rikas death otherwise emergency manual 34 could still occur. She convinced them that the sonozakis were suspicous and had them search the grounds while she distracted mion with the soy sauce bottle that gets rika killed in the OG series. She would then confirm rikas death from mion and they would kill each other. EDIT: another thing that i remember. when rika goes all red eyes on keiichi in watadamashihen there is a visual cue that he is under at least L3 of HS. after she chews him out for not watching her dance the wooden(?) gate pole goes from normal to looking like it has splotches of blood on it. Another thing to consider in tataridamashihen is that i think satoko didnt plan for minagoroshihen to happen. she planned for tatarigoroshihen to happen and had things set up to redirect who came to kill teppei to drive rika more into despair. But as minagoroshihen happened instead which threw her for a major loop. She then learned just how much her friends (especially keiichi) cared for her and she felt a level of support that she desperately has been searching for. So she was on the verge of giving up herself and staying with keiichi believing he wouldnt leave her like he did in matsuribayashihen or the other timelines. The likely reason why this didnt work is because the agreement she had with Eua (Han-two) means that satoko has to *entertain* her and her just giving up is not entertaining enough. So Ooishi went L5 to kill rika and satoko and force satoko back into the game to continue until she wins or loses in a entertaining way (maximize drama). This is also why i think hanyuu (really Eua) gave rika the ability to remember all of her loops even her cause of death. to make the game more entertaining and mess with satoko to keep her invested so now satokos mistakes can lead to her being revealed which will no doubt be entertaining when rika finds it out. Eua wouldnt interfere too much (or even threaten to do so) to keep the game interesting and surprising but she will occasionally change things up or get involved herself to ensure it remains entertaining.

Spoilers // Umineko/Cicona references so be warned... Rena is a pseudo-looper, every other culprit Satako has influenced has directly targeted Rika. This is also a great way to gauge who Satako injects and who gets the syndrome naturally... anyways, Mion in arc 2, Ooshi in arc 3, the four consecutive deaths Rika had before Satako-hen... Satako can’t control Rena like other characters, and I think a huge part of this is that Rena can hear Eua like she could Hanyu in OG... because Rena has prior experience with the syndrome. Shes gonna shank Satako with that sword shard :D also, OG lambdelta is probably messing with her younger self either to save Rika from transcending into Berknstel or... to take shots at Berknstel while she’s considerably young and defenseless. This is in the realm of possibility cuz in VN after collecting all the fragments, Berknstel visits Takano in her childhood, though this isn’t cannon clearly. Also think about When Satako meets Eua for the first time... Eua (a version of Featherine btw) references Vier (Satako’s character in Ciconia, the end and beginning) and also LAMBDELTA. How does Eua already know Lambdelta if this is Lambdelta’s origin story? Especially to SATAKO, and when you rewatch the scene, Eua is indirectly questioning Satako... Well it’s not an origin story, Lambdelta is already a character, hence why Eua references her at that particular point in time, cuz she already knows Lambdelta. Also Eua pities Rika, despite not knowing her. Even though she traversed from Hanyu, she isn’t Hanyu, so she shouldn’t be familiar with Rika (or Vier or Lambdelta for that matter but Featherine knows Berknstel very well, and all the aforementioned characters)... yeahhhh that’s what I think, ok Rena shanking Satako is troll but either Satako gonna get shanked by someone or she gonna make up with Rika and they face the problem of the accumulating memories together. I think Rena kills Rika in arc 2 btw. She could be mad that Rika convinced Keichi to give the doll to Mion instead of her cuz she knows Keichi was supposed to give the doll to her... Also teppi attacks Keichi in arc 3 cuz Keichi led the group that claimed he was abusing Satako. Keichi was trying to break them apart and Teppi like NAH FCK YOU... ooshi actually warns Keichi about this earlier in the arc tbh Also Eua who is also featherine (kinda) is basically a Hanyu (kinda lol)... you don’t seem to know that certainly but your theory suggests your onto it, so yeah I’ll just say you’re basically right about that lol. Have you gotten to the part in umineko that explains Featherine’s memory device? The part that was broken is ultimately referencing Hanyu... That will explain it all for you if you get to that part in umineko but um... Love your video and your theories! Good job buddy! Just consider that this isn’t a prequel to Umineko but could be happening AFTER or looping into it, considering Ciconia is the the beginning and end of all... OG Lambdelta could have left the horn for Satako to find, or something along those lines. Similar to how Rika transcends to Berknstel in off-cannon arks of Higurashi, and the VN Easter egg I already referenced... This could explain why Satako changes after arc 3, hopefully she doesn’t get possessed or some BS... You really make a good case for hallucinations and Keichi being an unreliable narrator, I like that. Didn’t consider that before, he could know a lot more than he leads on but I also think the same is true for Rena. We’ll see, I hope you make more Higurashi videos :D

frankly you had me when you said that satoko and lambda are separate individuals, waaay to many people have jumped on the theory that rika and satoko become bern and lambda respectively when i think this goes against themes and statements made by lambda and other witches. I also think upon closer inspection the idea of satoko being lambda makes satoko's whole story follow a dangerously similar road as battlers which i think is just too lazy for ryukishi. however i do have a question, i dont recall lambda being mentioned by featherine in gou, when did that happen

@@homulity5293 Specimen LD3105 is code for Lambdelta and Sa To Ko ... and Satako’s dialogue speaking for certainty. Its obvious Satako is Lambdelta but not really progressing through her origins. And Featherine mentioned she looped forever and forget her, Featherine was also clearly upset that Satako didn’t remember her. So Satako basically is already Lambdelta it’s pretty obvious and she forgot lmao but that doesn’t mean she was the one from umineko necessarily. There’s a lot more to it like Featherine’s broken memory device so she’s not exactly ‘Featherine’ either but, still. I doubt this is an origin story considering she’s literally already Lambdelta so. There is also the possibility that Takano was removed from the game board and Lambdelta switched to Satako but, the thing is, LD3105 is from Ciconia and specifically references Satoko over the other ‘34’ converged minds like (not 34 minds but the code is 34 that they all have in common, being Jestress, Vier, Mitsuyo, Takano and Satoko... and lambdelta lmao)... idk man this shits crazy tbh

@@late-nightlivestreams7105 i dont know if this is what you are getting at, but i am lead to believe by this that satoko was a witch well before bern was. featherine got into a game with someone and satoko might have tagged along for the ride similar to bern and lambda overseeing the umineko game. or maybe even lambda herself was the opponent of featherine's game which might explain weird issues regarding her memory, but i cant substantiate that very well. regardless, the end would point to rika becoming bern, satoko remember who she is, featherine getting her shit together, and this starts an intense hatred from bern towards lambda. bern being angry for being toyed with mainly by lambda would desire to give lambda a taste of their own medicine. trapping lambda in her own unnamed logic error we know took place after higurashi and before umineko. or i totally misread what you were going for and if so feel free to elaborate.

@@late-nightlivestreams7105 i also want to give myself a little credit here. i wouldnt call this all obvious if you never considered that this was both involving lambda, but also not her origin. because if you think of it has being unrelated to lambda, evidence can line up and it would just mean ryukishi is doing some more classic red herrings. something hes known to do. and i also dismiss this has being lambda's origin as well because i agree, evidence given makes that make no sense. it had never dawned on my the lambda might have encountered bernkastel before bernkastel had become a witch. frankly the idea of bernkastel being a younger witch than lambda still sounds weird to me but i do see how what your going for makes sense.

To explain mion and shion, they were switched and it's confirmed a few times in the visual novel. Mions real name is Shion and vice versa. Shion(who we know as Mion and the club leader) is the younger of the two, and Mion (who we know as Shion and loves Satoshi and is a sister to Satoko) is the older of the two. They switched places because as children, the two had to split due to private meetings for the older twin, and the younger went to a theme park or something which happened quite a lot. The older twin wanted to have fun for once while the younger wanted in on the secrets so they agreed to switch, unfortunately at that time was the day Mion had to be marked with the demon tatoo so from that day on the twins had to live eachothers lives and never told a soul. When you realise this it puts a whole new perspective on all the original storyline especially chapter 2 and chapter 5 where the younger sister feels horrible for all the older sister has to go through and tries to feel some of that pain the older sister goes through knowing or feeling it should have been her, take for example where she pulled her own nails out because she felt partially responsible for what the younger sister went through

I love the theory of Keiichi being the killer in the second arc, but something is off about it as Keiichi is supposed to have joined Satoko and the other kids to play dodgeball, but we could doubt Rika's conversation with Keiichi as the scene contains blood during the scene without anyone seemingly killing each other. Yet, it seems weird Keiichi would have hidden Rika's body since he was with Satoko right after "Rika's supposedly death". I feel like Satoko only suspected Keiichi because she thought their conversation led to Rika's disappearance and Keiichi never becoming a killer in the three first arcs makes sense. The reason why it'd make sense is because Keiichi is being dragged back into Higurashi after redeeming for his sins. Keiichi has already given the doll to Mion in the OG which was the event that affects Shion's acts later on. Keiichi is reliving a past that he has already learned from, so Keiichi shouldn't be a murderer as he's not supposed to be a sinner anymore... If I make sense. BUT Keiichi murdering everyone in Angel Mort quoting his fight against Rena (including Rena's quote) on the roof makes sense, Keiichi probably went L5 either from Satoko or on his own but literally went crazy as a consequence of ALLLL that madness and probably just stopped caring and went on a rampage to express his frustration, after all, he probably thought it was "just a game" in his state of mind as Keiichi has been aware of his "dreams" being "other worlds". We don't know what Keiichi and the others do in the fragment where Satoko tortures Rika so it's very possible Keiichi's just going more and more insane from the madness surrounding him even tho he hasn't done anything wrong.

Also, a Sotsu trailer showed Rika outside Keiichi’s house, so she probably came during/after Rena’s attack. I suspect she found out what Satoko was up to so Satoko had to kill her before she remembered.

Ultimately the turf war is likely to happen. Would want Satoko and Rika to talk their differences out, but I do think that the best alternative might be to go back and prevent Satoko from going to the shrine thereby preventing Hantwo from setting the series into motion. To do so, I'd think they'd have to use the shard to kill or at the least "weaken" Hantwo since that was what Hanyuu wanted to begin with. Also kind of had the idea that Hantwo lied about the shard. I mean, it was more than likely Hantwo disguised as Hanyuu who hit that the shard was actually meant to transform the looper into a witch if we really need to link Umineko with Higurashi. Just don't really expect a happy ending to Sotsu; if anything, both Satoko and Rika in some ways becoming witches would mean that they would always be together.

Idk why I keep thinking that Satokowashi-hen (Village Destroying Chapter) is literally going to be the destruction of Hinamizawa or the gameboard as the new promotional art for sotsu suggests. The world they could be in is breaking apart, and a rift is forming between Rika and Satoko as they remain in the sea of fragments.
