My elementary school actually did something similar to this when I was a kid. Every year we would do what the school called "Career Week". It was a week that allowed students to discuss their futures. Mon-thur parents would come in and describe their jobs and what they did for work, often bringing in fun exhibits for us to enjoy. On Friday, every student would dress up as what they wanted to be when they grew up, having a massive parade for the parents. It was always so fun to see all the different job options and was always a favorite among myself and many other students.

@@420mila Not necessarily. It was a larger school so each year there were different students in your class. You rarely ever had the same students in you class each year. Only 2-3 parents would come in each day (a total of 10-15 throughout the week), and they are fairly large class rooms (usually around 20+ each). There were always new parents and new jobs that we got to explore each year. Each presentation was unique, so even if we saw 2 firefighters in a week, the presentation would be different.

We had something similar at our school, but it was just one day. My parents never came to Career Day at my school because my dad was always working and my mom was too embarrassed to go because she felt like being a stay-at-home-mom wasn't a real job. Now that I'm older I realize how hard she worked and it's sad to think that she was embarrassed about that.
