Okay, because the baby was born very pale/white, am guessing the newborn child was albino? Which leaves the father confused, thus murdering his partner for their mistaken dishonesty(or romantic betrayal or whatever). Quite interesting. But yeah, I love this song, even if it's tragic. :)

sadlobster1 in this case it is a cultural thing. In Spain the gypsies live in a closed community and refer to non gypsies as "payos". He was not only angry because he thought she was unfaithful, but with a payo on top of it all. The song beautifully illustrates how pride can be deadly and being careful what you wish for.

Agree, but the song ( I know because I am Spanish) talk about artificial insemination in what the gipsy woman had child in this way, after she meet a man and him think the woman fucked with a payo so he kill her. This would be the out-metaphor version.

I remember watching this video for the first time when I was very young, it was uploaded 15 years ago and I'm 24 now, should've been within a couple months of being posted. The child was white because it was born of the moon(and albino,not just white), and the moon didn't MAKE the man murder his wife. He killed her out of spite, thinking she dishonored him(cheated on him) with another(white) man. He then abandons what he thinks is a bastard child on the mount where shortly after the moon does some moon magic and makes the child a spirit or something. A few lyrics translate into: "Cause whoever sacrifices children for not being alone, is not going to love them."

A small clarification: "Hijo de la Luna" (Son of the Moon) is a song that was published in 1986 and is part of the track list of the album "Entre el cielo y el suelo" (Between the sky and the ground). Then, years later, in 1989, Mecano version published in Italian version ("Figlio della Luna" album) and in 1991 they published the french version of this song ("Aidalai", France edition). Never they published one version of this song in 1988.

Imagine the life of this child...I mean, he exist in indefinite space as a spirit being, mostly alone, only with The Moon, being his true mother, and that gypsy woman who is his biological mother, not true mother though (I guess she exists in form of spirit being, as stars or something). Can he talk to any of them? Do they communicate only by emotions, feelings, with no words? Are they only empty, thoughtless clouds of emotions-positive or negative, depending on their mood, or are they something like soul, thinking and feeling like people do, or maybe in more god-like way?
