@@unavarage5726 I’ve noticed in a lot of fields the people that are very good at their craft but not the best of the best are the most toxic most likely because a lot of them feel they’re being robbed of those top spots by things out of their control. This festers into anger a lot of the people who follow magnus or Hikaru play chess all the time and eat dick constantly that consistency in mediocrity just breeds toxicity. (I am also very bad at chess probs worse than the average hikaru viewer)

This match was one of the most entertaining SCC matches ever, for me at least. And the wholesome interview with Magnus really topped if off perfectly. It was nice to hear all the praise and appreciation from arguably the best chess player of all time. Hikaru was rock solid, Magnus really messed it up in the first half, and made it very exciting in the end. You could see the happiness and relief in Hikaru's face when he noticed the match clock was below his own. Awesome stuff, loved the interviews! Cool to see Hikaru's reaction to this.

I dont know, but seeing the GOAT, unable to control his smile about Hikaru beating him, is one of the most genuine and wholesome things I've ever seen. We're going to see some of the best speed chess of all time in the coming years. Hikaru is no longer intimidated by Magnus, and he's playing like he does against everyone else. Magnus really enjoys a good challenge. His mood was like night and day in comparison to the match against Gukesh (Magnus crushing). Secondly, this is probably the first time I see Magnus happy after a loss. Hell, most of the time he is unhappy even if he wins.

Undoubtedly, the most exciting and legendary matches that I have seen from these two in the SCC 2022. I don't know why but when I think about the best opponent for Hikaru, Magnus' name comes into my mind first. This is the case in the opposite way too. That's what I call "Legendary Pairing". Always has been. Magnus didn't ask for 40 private games just for shits and giggles. It was a targeted strat to get the read on Hikaru. Anybody thinking Hikaru hasn't been a threat to Magnus is oblivious because it takes competition to bring out the best in people. And like Magnus said, Hikaru has always had talent. Magnus had a goal and it was to be the best at chess for a period of time. That period is now waning.

This isn't comparable, but.. I used to play a golf game on my phone. There were 3 tiers for entry fees and reward wins. I played exceptionally well when in the lowest tier. I'd win those golf games often. When I tried the highest tier, I felt so much pressure that I lost. I then lost all money for entry fees and went back to the lowest tier. Then after getting money back in the game i mistakenly pressed the highest tier thinking it was the lowest, and won. Then I realized that if I don't "care" about it being highest tier, I can perform as well as I normally do. I then went on to keep winning (then got bored of the game lol). So if Hikari has finally gotten the pressure of Magnus out of his head, then this is just the beginning of many more great chess matches that we will get to see, so I'm definitely excited for that.

Magnus is a master strategist- a hundred variables and variations go through his head on every move- perfect for classical chess. Hikaru is a master tactician- very reactive and has his bag of mental tricks in hand at all times- perfect for speed chess. They are masters of their respective categories. And if someone is good at something- it SHOULD be an obsession.

When I speak with people that doesn't play chess, they don't understand but I've been dealing with chess addiction for 3 years and have restricted myself to play online with various tools but yeah. The problem I have is that when I start playing chess, nothing exist anymore and I need to play more and more until it's 2am and I have played 4 hours straight

It's so fracking refreshing to watch the two top players in the world being honest to the degree of self-destruction. Hat off both to Hikaru and Magnus. The insight into how their brains work in detail under pressure is worth a study all by itself even without any sense of chess. About chess, they have probably made speed chess equally honorable as standard time control. Personally, I find 5+1 to be too fast, but I love 2+5. I wonder what they think about this being the main attraction in speed chess. Anyways, I think these two personalities are the best of all time. I love them both. I'm happy about Hikaru's victory even though I'm in Magnus's camp. Sad Magnus couldn't keep up with Hikaru's pace this time. I'm longing for their next encounter already.

The speed chess championship is one tournament and it’s not the deciding factor on who is the best.( actually Magnus didn’t play in it most of the time). Magnus is considered the best in on time formats(by pretty much every stat you want), but I suppose that he meant that because he didn’t win the tournament last time he wants to win it this time. Btw this is not the actual blitz championship, and Magnus holds the record for the most actual blitz championship(he got 5), just for compression hikaru has 0(he probably deserve one but still…)
