For tablebase at the end of the video, it's not mate in 21 moves. DTZ means distance to zeroing, which means the 50 move rule is reset (a pawn push or a piece is taken), while DTM is distance to mate.

Another great video. It is facinating and cool when Hikaru criticizes himself for playing too slow and bad, while his opponent has used let's say 45 seconds more than him, and he still beats the opponent, while he also follows and interacting with people on the chat. Just shows you how incredible high skilled chess player he is. And his opponents are very great at chess themself.

@Hikaru: have you tried the Old Benoni/Grob setup? Pawns on g5 and h6, light color bishop comes to f5-g6 or g4-h5-g6 and play for pushing g5 or for the e5 square. Some spectacular positions come out of this. You can sack a lot for initiative.

@@yodamaged2703 It’s featured in Michael Basman’s book The Killer Grob against 1. d4 but I find it more interesting to start as an Old Benoni 1. d4 c5 2. d5 and then transpose with d6, h6 and g5 to take away white’s other possible center setups against the Grob. If white attacks the flank pawns with h4 you’re supposed to push g4 and if white attacks with f4 you’re supposed to sack the g5 pawn and open the g and h files for your rooks. If white doesn’t push 2. d5 you can easily transpose into an open Sicillian with 2… cxd4 which he probably doesn’t want to play. Also 2. dxc5 can lead into an open Sicillian with Qa5 and Qxc5. More interesting than other responses to 1. d4, dynamic gameplay. Pressure on the long diagonal doesn’t end until late game, there are always tactics lurking.
