Nice video and great trekking. A little too fast for me (I'm 70 and I have on my legs GR20, TMB, AV1 Dolomiti, Selvaggio Blu, ..........). You're right: I think it's better not to bring the tent and sleep in the huts but ... I would add 1 kg of safety (via ferrata kit).

Great video!! Do you remember what sections had the “scarier” via Ferrata part? Also, is there a way to avoid this section(s) ?
@krutainis11 ай бұрын
Sorry, don't remember exactly, it was the middle part of the trail. You can avoid the sections, but it will be big detours, through the valleys. Would just get Ferrata gear/harness and go. With gear, it will be easy.

Great video, congrats!! One thing I'd like to ask if you have booked your nights in the refugios a lot in advance? Or there is a room for spontaneity? :)

No, we showed up on the day, it was just two of us, so we always found a spot. but could be harder if you go with a larger group

When did you hiked ? How many rainy days did you have ? Which month IS better August or septembre ?
@krutainis Жыл бұрын
We hiked in mid September. I think it was perfect, not too rainy, couple of days, but less people than in August.

Great video. Thank you for sharing. How were the water options between the rifugios? Or did you carry a full supply each day wehn you headed out? Sorry if I missed that somehwere.
@krutainis Жыл бұрын
would depend on the season. In mid-September there was not much natural available along the way, even if filtered. But most days you'd have village or Refugio along the way at least once, so no need to carry more than 1.5-2l

Hi, very nice vid and very informational. I'm planning to do the first half of the AV2 in September, my Cicerone indicated that from Passo Gardena to Pisciadu/Boe and to Rifugio Castiglioni is about 20KM, however there other online resources seem logged much longer milage, what was your record and what is the actual miles you did? Thanks
@krutainis Жыл бұрын
Hey, you can search my Strava, all the days were recorded there. To see the exact route and distance we did each day. Don't remember each section by heart anymore. As it was 2 years ago, sorry. www.strava.com/activities/5937677758

Hi Ivarss, amazing Video, especially the QandA at the end. How many via ferratas did you have on the way? How many per day roundabout? WOuld you say it were technically easy ferratas? Thanks for your answer in advance!
@krutainis2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, missed the question. You have some ferrate section pretty much every day. 2-3 were quite challenging. The others were relatively easy. On the 2-3, I would highly recommend the Ferrata kit (harness and helmet). We went without any extra gear, but it was scary on some bits, just to rely on your hands not slipping:)

Great Video. I cannot wait to go myself this september. Did you just book the rifugios, when you arrived, or did you call ahead? Did you ever have problem getting a room? I heard start september should be less crowded. So I hope I can just call ahead in the morning and book for one night at a time. I am not too experienced with hiking so I don't know how much I will be able to do in a day.

we just showed up every night, always had space, in sep should be ok, in Aug better to call ahead. good luck and enjoy!

Hi, I see some offers that are around 1500 euros + "extra" if you want a guide. You say here that you went on your own, do you need to register somewhere at an access point or just start climbing when you arrive. Is there a place where I can leave my bike and other equipment for 10 days?
@krutainis Жыл бұрын
Hey, no need to register. You can definitely do it yourself but would recommend bringing basic via ferrata gear (a harness). Alta Via 2 is not a loop route, so you will have to go back to pick up your gear. There are villages at either end so you can just try to negotiate to leave gear with a guesthouse or something to leave your bike.

@krutainis Жыл бұрын
Sorry, just saw it. Yes, it's better to bring a sleeping bag. Some have blankets, some don't, but you need at least a liner as a minimum.

Would you mind sharing your itinerary? I see you were sleeping wild, but which huts were you able to reach roughly at the end of each day? I'm planning doing AV2 this summer so that would be really helpful! :)

Via ferrata without kit: bad example. Don't imitate this dude. Here in Italy many falls from vie ferrate, some fatal.
@krutainis Жыл бұрын
Hi Marcus, I'm not advocating going on via Ferrata without the kit. I also mentioned it in the Q&A and comments. We did not know there would be so many sections of it on Alta Via and did not want to cancel the hike. We took less tricky sections where we could. If we'd do it again, we would def take the kit. Happy hiking!
