Alta Via 2 // The Last 50 Miles

Alta Via 2 Part Two. A pork Knuckle is a large chunk of meat sold at most restaurants along the Alta Via. This will be important to know later on. Our adventure in the Dolomites continues. Having covered approximately 50 miles of the Alta Via 2 we set out to finish the rest of the route. Day 3 begins in San Pellegrino with our first stop planned for Rifugio Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata Where some soup and a hot dog wait to be slurped and devoured. Just fuel for the burn, and there is still a lot of burn left in the day. Day 3 of the Alta Via 2 will be a 27 mile 12,100ft behemoth. A day like that requires a never ending stream of hotdogs. Even with copious amounts of hot meat our final days in the Dolomites will be some of the most challenging of the trip. Our third day of the Alta Via will cover huge mountain passes and knee breaking descents while day 4 will give us a taste of some real Dolomite weather. A deluge of water and a never ending cacophony of thunder. Mother Nature isn’t gong to make it easy.

Great video and great adventure! Welcome to Italy btw :) If I may, I would like to HIGHLY recommend running the Sentiero Roma next time you come to the Italian Alps. It goes through Val Crodera and Val Masino: the scenery and the trail itself (and the huts) are amazing and unique. I'm sure you'll find resources online for it. If you don't feel free to reach out. "how do you hike for so long" - you start with half a mile, then 3/4 mile, then 1 mile, you keep doing it a few times a week and gradually increase the distance.
