Wow, what a stream, and what quality fish. That definitely looked like a salamander to me, which tells one just how big that trout was. I don't know how the trout react to them, but bass absolutely hate them, because they like raiding their nests for the eggs and/or fry. You can drag all sorts of lures through a bed, and the bass will either ignore it or bump it out of the way - put on a plastic "spring lizard", and they'll destroy it. Same thing goes down here in saltwater with speckled trout - they hate baby croakers, because they go after the eggs floating in on the incoming tide.
@WoolyBugged3 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting information Ian. Might need to tie up a lizard streamer.

Two things. One, I wear waders because of ticks. Lyme disease numbers are at astronomical levels in Pennsylvania. Two, that's why I love the new Simms Flyweight waders. They are durable, breathable, and provide that barrier I'm looking for from the ticks. Many guys don't care, that's just a risk they take.

Love the videos. One question though: I could douse myself in Permethrin, and I would still pick up a thousand ticks if I walked through the areas you do. Don't the ticks bother you??
@WoolyBugged3 жыл бұрын
That's the primary reason I wear waders on these long hikes is because of the ticks. Here in Pennsylvania the outbreak of Lyme disease has been unbelievable over the past decades. Google the numbers. The waders do a great job a keeping the ticks off me. In 3-4 years of doing these types of hikes, I've only had one tick on clothes after taking the waders off.
