Hiking Alaska // Deer Mountain Traverse in Ketchikan

In July, we ventured into Ketchikan Alaska's backcountry hiking on the Deer Mountain Traverse. The 16 mile trail held panoramic views of surrounding mountains, North bird Peak, John Mountain, Mahoney Mountain, Upper and Lower Silvis lakes, and the islands of the Inside Passage. Alaskan wild flowers, mountain goats, and berries added to a majestic adventure.

Thank you a ton. It really was an experience. Even for me. And I’ve got a few miles under my belt. This was quite the adventurous hike and not for the average hiker. This one definitely pushed my limits but in a good way.

Thank ya kindly. If you do it in the summer when the road is clear of snow for sure. It’s stone/dirt road but I have a Chevy Cruze and made it up no problem. If you wanna feel safer even the smallest SUV would be able to make it up.
