Then you didn't get on very strenuous hikes in RMNP or YNP.

Agreed, most of the hikes we had time to hike up in RMNP and Yosemite were fairly gradual climbs. Definitely not saying those parks do not have more difficult trails :) A 14er and Half Dome (for a couple examples) obviously would blow Breakneck Ridge out of the water as far as difficult goes.
