Here's all of the hiking gear I brought with me for my 10-day hike along the Wonderland Trail in Mount Rainier National Park! Tell me in the comments below, what's your favorite piece of gear you can't go backpacking without?

Another fantastic review, thanks! I also use a one person tent but it's a trekking pole one so it takes a little space for the lines. The simplicity of it's nice, but having one like yours is very tempting.
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
I thought about switching to an ultralight trekking pole tent, but since I knew I would be doing the Wonderland this year and remembering how small the tent sites were, I decided to go with this smaller, more convenient set up that didn't require me having to stake out the tent in order to set it up. If I were thru-hiking the PCT, I'd definitely consider a trekking pole tent because there are many more tentsite options along the PCT.

I’ve been looking at tents lately and I’m deciding to get a one or two person tent. I was just wondering how tall you are, that you had so much room in your one person tent to fit your pack inside your tent and slept comfortable?? Thanks for your great videos!!

@@a.ramosakadrumgrl6677 I have the 2 person version of the same tent and it’s good but there’s a lighter and less expensive tent made by the same company and it’s called the big Agnes fly creek. It’s a good tent but it’s not as roomy, has only one entry, and it’s not as sturdy in heavy wind but that’s the price you pay for a lighter tent. The copper spur tent is an all around good tent and I’ve used it for backpacking and car camping.

Hi! I’m doing the wonderland trail this summer and it is going to be the first time I’m going to be in the wilderness for so long (12 days). My main concern right now is to be able to charge my inreach and my phone (camera). I also have an iPhone 12. I was trying to find out what kind of power bank you used but the link is broken. Would you share the specs of yours? (Amperage, watts etc). And how many times were you able to charge your equipment with it thank you!

What is the giant knife for? If you're hanging your food, can't you use a regular waterproof bag instead of a bear bag? Thanks for the video.
@TheHungryHiker Жыл бұрын
A knife can be used for all kinds of things. I typically use it to cut cheese when out on trail. As for hanging your food, it depends on how you hang it. Sometimes when not hung properly in a tree, bears can still get to the food, so it's probably always a good idea to pack your food in a bear-proof bag.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching all your videos from the trip. Looked like a good one! I love my EE quilt too, although mines probably not as warm (20d, no draft collar)! Did you wear your stocking cap at night or go with an insulated hood? One thing I learned this summer that I liked was instead of a butt pad using a gossamer gear thin-light foam pad cut down to torso length. Its longer so you can lay down and do yoga, although I'm not sure if it would keep you dry on wet ground. Lastly, do you have any resources for beginners looking to vlog their hikes like you? Thanks again
@TheHungryHiker3 жыл бұрын
I actually haven't needed to wear any type of hood at night while sleeping out on trail. My sleep system has been warm enough that I haven't needed one yet. As for vlogging tips, I haven't made any videos showing how I put together my videos, but if there's enough interest, I might put together a few videos in the future. For vlogging tips, I just follow my favorite bloggers to get shot ideas for my outdoor adventures and lots and lots of trial and error. Hope that helps!

Great video as always. One question is there a reason for carrying 2 knives, especially the large one. Thanks.

Having a knife is part of the 10 essentials. You could use it for a wide variety of things. I mainly use mine to cut my cheese. 😀
