That swamp is a high elevation beaver bog. Lots of rare species there. Theres usually otters 🦦

Bro 😂 I told you to let me know when you were in the area. There’s an AWESOME 4,000fter close to there that has spruce fir forest. The only one in Georgia.

The true old growth forest is just past the fire tower. It has never been cut. A big boulder field forest as well. Red squirrels, rare species that usually live in Canada, grow there.

And Grassy Mountain is the easiest access to the Cohuttas but technically is outside of the wilderness area. Go down Betty Gap if you want to see one of the only true temperate north facing cove rainforests in Georgia.
