Thank you so much for taking us on your Nakasendo Trail Experience. Almos felt like I was on the trail with you. I'm interested in doing the trip on the future. Beautifully put together video. Would make a beautiful TV programme. We have some similar Walking Trail TV programmes here in Ireland which really help to educate people about what they can experience in Irelan.

i love this trail. Did it in 2020 with my 2 year old twins, just before covid hit. Back then it was really quiet and it felt like we were the only ones doing it at that time. I wish to go back and do a longer trail walk.

Jun, thank you for your Nakasendo Trail Video, it was both a beautiful video as well as well edited. The views and vistas are amazing. I wish I could do such trip, but been old and wheelchair bound makes it impossible. I have seen many video done about Nakasendo, but yours so far is the best for me. You managed you capture the "Spirit" of the trail; for that.....I am very grateful. Perhaps in my next life I might have the priviledge to do the trail. Your gift is precious, so my girft to you is my subscription to your charming channel and a Big thumbs up.

@@JunOutdoors Went to Japan 1990(Liangnoy Jun most probably belum lahir hihihi)on a company training trip of almost two months, what really2 amazed me were 1) the Japanese, warm kind sincere... 2) the punctuality of the train, arriving just on the dot 3) superb attitude of all drivers where they never jump queue during traffic jam(my experience from Narita airport to hostel of some 3 hours on the road), unbelievable for Msia standard 4) mandi bogel !!! The company's common bathroom with hot pool, a culture shock for us Msian to see people bath in complete nude, of course me n Msia colleagues never dare to do that lah hahaha And of course the scenery the beauty of Japan (cheery blossom was the highlight of my trip) but its an expensive country, present exchange rate make it even more costly to visit Wish to do something similar to your trip but my children need to sponsor their dad baru boleh pergi

Greetings from David Kampar. The wooden "clogs" the 3 of you wore at the Ryokan, is called GETA. It is purely made of wood and is quite difficult to wear and walk,initially. Hope you enjoyed them,despite the initial uneasiness.
@JunOutdoors
@JunOutdoors 5 ай бұрын
Hi David from Kampar. So it's called a Geta, thanks for that info! Yeah not the most comfortable footwear but definitely forces one to take smaller steps and try to be graceful. Lol
@davidchan5424
@davidchan5424 5 ай бұрын
You may not believe but it had been proven that in an unhappy hostile situation where the assailant has a weapon ( sword,stick,pole),quickly getting the feet off the Getas,and fitting each to our palm,with the two wooden protruding parts facing Outwards , we can immediately have a pair of defensive armaments !ha ha !

Even as time passes and the surface of the city changes, nothing remains the same in terms of what lies at the root of Japan's unique culture. The common root of the originality of Japanese culture is the uniqueness of its geopolitical isolated location and the influence of its special natural environment. Even if culture and knowledge are imported from abroad, it is not dominated by them, but rather, after a certain period of time, it is able to select and discard the content, integrate it with its own culture, make repeated improvements to fit its environment, and eventually create its own new style. This is due to the influence of Japan's unique natural environment, which is both rich and harsh, and is very different from the natural environment on the continent. Japan's original country name "NIPPON" means "the country under the sun," but its other name is "YAMATO (WA, DaiWa)," which means "peaceful harmony between people and nature. In other words, the name of Japan is "the country under the sun," meaning the country of "great harmony between people and nature. The history of Japan is very old, about 2,000 years since the reign of the Emperor, but it was during the "Jomon Pottery" culture about 14,000 years ago that humans began to form villages and communities and live in this island nation. (It was about 30,000 years ago if the Neolithic Age is included.) Surrounded on all sides by the sea and geographically isolated from the Eurasian continent in the Pacific Ocean, this island nation has a warm and humid climate, and because it is a volcanic island, it is blessed with abundant underground clear water resources, diverse vegetation, and fishery resources. For this reason, people have lived here for tens of thousands of years, enjoying the abundant nature and living in peace with nature. However, while the natural environment of this island nation is rich, it is also harsh and has both light and dark sides. Since ancient times, the people of this land have respected human harmony and have lived in peace by working together as a group. They have shared and enjoyed the blessings of nature by pooling their wisdom and collectively overcoming numerous severe and harsh natural disasters, such as frequent volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunami, summer typhoons, and heavy snowfall in winter. This is because this island nation has a harsh natural environment that cannot be overcome by a single person. Individual power is too weak to face the onslaught of nature, which can destroy the wealth we have built overnight. Therefore, many people should suppress their egos, dislike confrontation, and work together to create a livable environment and maintain cleanliness, and then work together to prevent disasters before they occur and to restore the environment after they have occurred. This is the most wise, efficient, and rational way to maintain peace and harmony in each other's lives, rather than to create more chaos by insisting on each other's selfishness, which has given rise to Japan's unique teachings, culture, and behavior. The ancient name of Japan, "YAMATO" or "WA" (peaceful harmony between people and nature), represents the wishes and reality of the people who have been trying to survive in the rich and harsh natural environment unique to island countries, which is different from the dry and stable land of the Eurasian continent. And it is in this ancient Japanese country name "WA YAMATO" that the essence of Japanese culture, the origin and secret of its unique culture, which is very different from the cultures of other Asian countries on the continent, is hidden.

could you kindly share a bit more on how did you plan this hike? Were there permits required, etc. and would this be doable for a solo female?
@JunOutdoors
@JunOutdoors 4 ай бұрын
Hello there. Not much planning required for the Nakasendo Trail. Just need to get to Nagiso Station by train, and then a shuttle bus to Tsumago or Magome to start the trek! No permit required. Anyone is free to walk on this trail. Extremely safe so a solo female can definitely do it. You can do it all in 1 day but I recommend booking a Ryokan ahead, so that you can take your time and enjoy the walk and exploring the post towns :)
