Hiking Maunawili Waterfalls via Pali Lookout, 1-23-2024

Mauawili Waterfalls could be hiked from Kailua, Waimanalo, and Pali Hwy. Its trail from Kailua has been closed since 2011. We decided to hike from Pali lookout area. We could hike from the Pali Hwy overlook but was not quite sure about parking a car at the Hwy overlook areas. We have hiked the Old Pali road but not the Maunawili traverse trail. It’s a quite easy trail with gentle slopes and well maintained trails.
When we got to the top of the Waterfalls around 4.5 miles from TH, we decided not to go back but headed to Kailua, and catch a Uber ride. We decided to follow the water ways which was one ridge east of the Maunawili Waterfalls trail from Kailua. At the Kailua TH, we caught a Truck ride to Pali Hwy junction. We finished hiking up 2.5 miles to Pali Lookout area.
