Around Mexico city there are 3 giant mountains that tower over the city. These volcano's have been mainly dormant, but one is still spitting up Smoke every hour.
Can we climb them?
For all Pan American enthusiasts:

For 3 months we have been OVERLANDING in Mexico with our Toyota Tacoma and four wheel camper Eagle. And this is the first time we are facing a challenge, that might be bigger than we can handle.
We both have a passion for Mountains and we couldn't let this opportunity slip to try and conquer them.
The first Volcano is Nevada de Toluca. This gorgeous Volcano has been dormant for so long that it developed two giant lakes. Will we make it to the summit?
After climatizing on this mountain and spending a couple of nights above 3000m. We head towards the Popocatepetl, an impressive Volcano that is still very active. With it's 5426m hight it is a very dominant mountain to look at. We park our truck at the visitor centre and we watch popo spit out smoke the whole evening. Even at night you can hear him rumbling and growling. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
The actual mountain we want to climb is named Iztaccihuatl 5230m to the summit. This climb start at the next camprground which is called La Joya. From there you can climb to the refugio to attempt the summit the next day. The hike is about 14-15h.
