Been to this area. Easy train ride from the City. Cold Spring the quaint village just south of Beacon has an area that juts out on the Hudson is a hidden gem . West Point sits across the river so the area played a big part in early American history.

To all the hikers doing this trek don't be mad at the random Jeep you might see. They were there decades before it was turned into an internet hike for you city folk. We're all just trying to explore and enjoy the same things. Have fun explorers!

Try Stissing mountain hike to the fire tower in Pine Plains. We saw a moose just lying down in the woods about 30 feet off the trail. This was about 15 years ago. If you join the Nature Conservancy, they will send you a booklet of great places to hike. The are a very worthy cause.

I was part of the fire crews that battles the casino fire and the ensuing forest fire as a 19 year old. One of my favorite memories we were there for 3 days fighting it.

Fall in Sleepy Hollow is nice. The Jack-o-lantern blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor is nationally famous and cooler than it might sound. Its like an art installation actually. Then you have Washington Irving's house in Tarrytown and the Sleepy Hollow Halloween Parade. If people from another country asked about best time to visit Hudson Valley, the last two weeks of October and the Halloween events would be my suggestion. I'm not a big foodie though lol. Nice video - I've made that hike and coming down was the dog of it (toes squishing into shoes lol)

Great Video !!! You guys make it all the way up to the Fire Tower. What an Awesome view. I'm going to do the Mount Beacon Trail around the first week of August. Me and my girl already did the Bear Mountain Trail, Anthony's Nose, Breakneck Ridge, Doodle Town and Arden Point and Glenclyffe Trail. I filmed all the Trails from start to finish ! My HD Camcorder can recorder up to 5 1/2 hours and I have an 8 hour battery. Check out my videos when you get a chance.

HI Jhn170, Glad to hear you enjoyed our first hiking video. One of the first We sadly didn't attempt the entire Mt Beacon Trail. Definitely something we'd like to try in the future. We've done Breakneck Ridge thought, that was before we started our KZbin Channel, so we don't have a lot of footage of us attempting the hike. We'll just have to do it again to make a video. :) We recently completed the Ice Caves hike in the Shawagunk Mountains and will put out a video, hopefully before the summer ends. Definitely let us know what you think! Also, having a camera that can record up to 5.5 hours is pretty sweet -- definitely great for long hikes! Part 3 of your Breakneck Ridge hike gave us the same anxious feeling we got when we attempted the scramble up the mountain! Thanks for sharing and we have some great ideas for potential hike ideas based on your videos! Hope you have great rest of your day!
