Yes, NYC is crowded with people but just 30/45 minutes outside the city (in any direction) brings you peace and tranquility (from beaches to mountains)

George Frole I’d recommend going a little further. Another 45 minutes from NYC will take you from the suburbs to true tranquility. Sincerely, someone who grew up 30 minutes from NYC.

Cold Spring is beautiful. I grew up not far from there. Cool little town. I moved to Florida and really miss the woods and the mountains. I spent so much time in the woods with my friends growing up. When I visited NY a couple years ago my sister asked me what I wanted to do most. I told her I want to go for a walk in the woods so we did. It was great.

I used to run up those mountains behind Haldane as kid with my friends back in the 70s. The town I was born and grew up in will remain in my memories forever. I'm sorry to say it's not the town I grew up in now. I do appreciate looking at the video.

I recently moved from the Hudson Valley to Texas and was missing home a bit. I heard of a fire on the mountain at breakneck ridge and was, disappointed. It get me reminiscing of the time I hiked breakneck with some friends, and the time I went and took my SATs at Cold Spring high school. I KZbind Cold Spring and your video popped up. It did not disappoint man. Nice choice of music, and it’s nice seeing the perspective of some from NYC/out of town. Glad you enjoyed. You chose a nice day.

It must be wonderful to go from a chaotic, crowded, noisy city to Cold Spring, immersed in the enchanting nature. Beautiful this video! Even here in Bassano del Grappa we have several paths with wonderful nature !!!

HI! I live in the area and it makes me so happy that people come up from the city for a quick gat-away! That being said, its important for hikers to know their experience level. Many people try to hike breakneck ridge because it's one of the more famous hikes in the area, but it is pretty difficult and for an unprepared hiker it can be dangerous. My word of advice is to research the hike before hand or go with someone experienced so you stay safe. Regardless of what hike you choose, you will have amazing views. Thanks so much for sharing this video!

I've been following all your NYC clips but this might be my favorite. Maybe because I'm from a small town in Europe, maybe it's the music or the shorts of the hike, but I now know what I'm doing for my next trip to New York. Shout out from Croatia.

One of the highlights in the Village of Cold Spring is the Magazzino Art Museum which is free and accessible by the museum shuttle that goes to the train station and picks up visitors. It isn't in the heart of the village but near a highway area.

$30 round trip! Metro North cost a lot less years ago. We used to walk on the tracks by the Hudson River to the trail and gate for Taconic State Park. There was a stream, waterfall, and a pond. We swam in the pond. Short hike but really nice. Had pizza in Cold Spring afterwards. But train being $30 would be beyond me.
