I also like small spots where you can sit, relax and enjoy the sounds of the woods. The leaves rustling in the wind, the creek flowing over the rocks...love it.

Frogettes! So cute. I used to hunt for frogs and salamanders! Now, at 76, I can appreciate them vicariously! Thank you, Cliff.

I hunted in this area before it was a park. Somewhere in there we found an old cabin/shack where they had used Dupont Dynamite crate sides for all the siding. If you’re ever up in that area again, you should check out the Jeddo Tunnel up near Hazleton. I stumbled across it years ago while hiking the old WB&H RR grade. The grade makes a big horseshoe loop and the tunnel is in the middle of the loop. Very similar to the Black Lick drainage tunnel in some of your other videos. It drained water from numerous underground mines in the region, and dumps a huge volume of acid mine water into Nescopeck Creek. There is info online about it.

You were lucky to catch that red backed salamander in one piece, they sometimes discard their tail to escape danger. That's usually what happens when I try to catch one. Very cool video.

Its pronounced "Nesk-a-peck' by locals. great video! Best trail at Nescopeck is the Red Rock trail btw. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the area!

I live in PA. If you want to hike, this park is ok. Fishing? Ha! If you fish all year long, then avoid this lake. Most of the locals who walk around that lake are rude, not nice. And some people don't clean up after their dogs like they should. Also there are a lot of snakes. Water snakes, rattlesnakes, and water moccasins.

Just wondering what advice you might have on bears , plan on cycling and camping though pa in a couple days? I'm more concerned about skunks and hunters who can't aim...
@thewanderingwoodsman72275 жыл бұрын
Bears are not really an issue in PA, unless you go after a momma's cubs or slather yourself in peanut butter before going to sleep at your campsite. They are more likely to go after your food at night. You can keep your food in a bear can or tie it in a tree overnight.
