I just completed a section hike (done in several days) of the entire Shut-in trail (a 17 mile segment of the MST west of Asheville) and up as far as the Craggies. Great video, thank you!

Well that was just wonderful! I was very interested to learn the history of this fairly young trail through one of my two home States. (I was raised between North Carolina and Virginia.) :-) I wonder if there are any shelters, and if so, how many? I also wonder what resupply options there are for anyone interested in thru-hiking the trail from the Western Terminus to the Eastern. I shall have to go find out more! I know so many of those places which were mentioned along the way on this Trail, but had no idea the MST was going through these parts. I've been curious about it since I stumbled upon it while on the Boone Fork Trail. Just had to look it up and I'm so glad I did. :-) glad someone posted this.

not sure if you've already done your research but the official MST website has guides and interactive maps you're able to find all resupply points as well as hotels/motels and post offices, etc.

from what i understand camping along this trail is very limited..I`m guessing camping in the mountains is not a hassle but once you get into the piedmont a few private campgrounds but that`s about it..it may have changed but I know down east it`s not really a trail but a series of backroads but no where to camp
