I did this with my wife last year. To be honest I wasn't that thrilled when she told me she wanted to to it, it didn't seem that interesting to me because I've never heard much about it, but it's really one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and almost sureal. One minute it looks like your on a carribean island, the next in Alaska. Some areas were almost primordial looking, with a sandy forest floor covered with lichens and ferns. Very strange, I've never seen anything like it.

The color of the lake, with endless shades of blue, is so lovely. Seeing it reminds me of a book I read a few years ago about a woman who kayaked around the entire lake at 43 years old. It took her 65 days and it is a story of adventure and self discovery. The book’s title is “Deep Water Passage” by Ann Linnea.

Absolutely gorgeous! I grew up in Minnesota, so excited you finally got to see the third coast! Lake superior is gorgeous, the type of clear water you get on northern lakes is really unheard of in the south and it's something I've missed since moving southwards. I hope you get up to the Superior Hiking Trail up in Minnesota some day! It's one trail I'm super excited to thru-hike someday since it's so close to home, in the woods that are my childhood.

What a lovely video. My wife is from Northern Michigan, so this was a special treat to find these images of a place we both love on our 29th anniversary. As for the car in the woods - it is a 1940s Plymouth. Back then a lot of that part of Michigan was still showing signs of extensively logging, and was more easily accessible by vehicles than it is now. The pines had been cut in the 19th century and the hardwoods were logged out in the early 20th century and often fires swept through the cut-over land. Mostly likely that car was on its last legs sometime in the late 1950s or 1960s and was abandoned on an unpaved trail, maybe by a hunter, and over the last half-century the protected forest regrew around it.

Welcome to Michigan, my home state. We used to live in NH and I hated how the sun went down so early. Michigan is at the Western edge of the Eastern time zone so we get the sun much longer in the evening. I used to travel to Alaska a couple times a year for about 6 years. I've been there in the summer (midnight sun and the sun never really sets. It gets like dusk out but not dark.) and in the dead of winter (35 below zero and maybe 3 or 4 hours of sun a day but it's on the horizon and not high in the sky). Lake Superior is cold, unforgiving and spectacular all at the same time. Yes, we are blessed to have all the fresh water from the Great Lakes surrounding us. Glad you enjoyed the trail. John from MI

Fantastic video. Fantastic cinematography, Dixie. You know how to point the camera, yes, but you also intuitively know what will look good in the frame and what your viewers will find interesting, educational, or beautiful. And Aaron, you continue to outdo yourself. I’m surprised that, you being so young, don’t choose to cover this with the techno music that’s free and all other creators use for their vids. It wouldn’t be appropriate here. Your music choices are almost always an add. But I’m also impressed by the little things, like the fact that you realize that when you put up the “other videos to watch” cards at the end of the video, it covers the video you’re watching on some devices, so you let us see the real end of the video and then put in a piece that’s not a waste of time but serves as a good backdrop for the cards. Dixie and Aaron = a one in a million team.

I'm probably going to be out of step here Dixie but more than the hikes, I come to your vlogs for the photography and videography. Yes the hikes are beautiful but it is the way you set them and the beauty that you capture along the way, in my opinion, surpasses the hikes. The rock formations were just out of this World and pondering how many 100s or 1000s of years it took for the rock shoreline to be carved into the beautiful shapes, the Bee, the Dandelion being set free, the wildlife. That is why I'm here. Yes I love your hikes but it is the way you capture all you view that keeps me coming back. Thank you.

Beautifully captured a beautiful piece of Superior treasure 😀 Thank you for the terrific balance between forest, trail, wildlife, beach and camping. I really felt like i was there with you. Having only explored the Canadian side of Lake Superior I’m glad to have stumbled upon your vlog here. I will definitely make my way to thus trail one day. You have a new sub. I look forward to viewing more of your vlogs. Greetings from Cape Breton Nova Scotia 🐾👍🏼

Yes, I agree with the previous comment. You pull me into the vlog by paying attention to the detail you see along the way. You are really conveying the experience more than many other vloggers do who seem to be in a hurry and just give a general 20K foot view. Thanks!

@@melissaverdoni845 I love the Ocean too, but in a walk on the beach sort of way. I can’t swim in it, the salt stings my eyes like crazy, even if I nerd out and put goggles on. 🤣🤣🤣
