It's a brilliant trail. I did it in 12 days about a decade ago...before I had kids!

Wel done. That's some achievement. You must be super fit.

@Tubba Travels I had a flight to catch so I couldn't be late! I ended up running the last few miles to make sure I could get the bus back from the Cape! I'm not sure I could do t in 12 days at the moment, as I said it was before children when I had much more time for fitness!

@@therighthonsirdoug that is cutting it tight. Anything could have happened along the trail to slow you down and miss that flight. The stress would have killed me. Glad it all worked out for you. The trail is getting more popular now so ten years ago you were a trail blazer.

Great video. I like your honesty. I too suffer from a fear of heights which stops you doing some of the major ridges. I’ve watched quite a few videos on the Cape Wrath Trail.and can tell from watching them how hard it is. Bogs and no paths etc. Well done to both of you for very entertaining and honest filming of the trail. Many thanks. Ps can’t wait to see the end of the trail.

I'm not sure I will ever get used to heights, however I think it is a valid fear as you can hurt yourself falling from heights. Also I would never go in a helicopter not even for a free ride. The only people who die in helicopter crashes are people who go in helicopters.

I've watched 4 people's Cape Wrath Trails now and this one is probably my favourite so far. You guys are so friendly and entertaining (wasn't expecting the drill ting.. hilarious). I'm hoping to do this one day but may need to do some skillful negotiating with my wife to swing all that time away from her and the kids :-) Looking forward to seeing the next stage.

Thank you mace. The drill ting, ha ha yeah a bit embarrassing, didn't know whether to include it so I'm glad you found it funny, it's all jokes. Tell your wife you'll come back a wiser man and an even better dad he he, worth a go.

Thanks smiler. I banged my knee but yes I was lucky. It was a lesson learned. I think this section would be a lot more difficult in bad weather. We were so lucky on the whole with weather.

Thanks Dave. I think I was getting a bit too cocky and mother nature gave me a little warning. Never too old to remember to be careful and respect the remoteness.

Glad to see your latest episode dropped a day after i caught up with the series. I fillled the gap with your Hadrians wall walk. It was nice to see some places I had visited down there near Vindolanda.

I absolutely loved the hadrians wall walk. It is really tough in places. We stayed on campsites all on the trail on that one so quite different to Cape wrath and both beautiful in different ways.

Quote of the day " Who's a silly boy ? " Crossing a stream on slippery rocks while holding a Gopro ....what could go wrong ? But apart from that unexpected action , another great video. You really do succeed in showing a lot more of the trail and its points of interest than other posters. Looking forward to seeing you both at the lighthouse.

Thank you, yep it was not my finest moment but a little warning from nature to be more careful is ok. It could have been much worse. I don't think I filmed another river crossing.

Another Amazing video with some great camera work. But we have to ask did Lisa (Map Girl) say i told you so? (You Need to use 2 poles) glad you was ok though 🤣
@tubbatravels
@tubbatravels Жыл бұрын
Ha ha , no not at the time. She stopped filming immediately to see if I was alright. I said to Lisa to never stop filming even if I am being swept away but her instinct was to stop filming. Yes when I saw the footage I did think 'why did I not listen?' I did need two poles for sure. I don't think i filmed another river crossing after that.

Thank you Kari -Anne. I was uncertain about including my little 'rap' (maybe I can call it that) as I felt a little embarrassed about it but when I'm hiking I often hear a drum beat in my head and I make up little rhymes along the way so thanks for the comment I feel a bit better about it now.

Another great video. Glad you didn't bust yourself up with that fall. Meant to ask, when staying in the bothies, are there any midge issues? Looks like you can make good time from Ullapool up to Inchnadamph. Looking forward to the next section as that one looks hard on the map...
@tubbatravels

Thanks iain. So long as you keep the front door shut there are no problems with midges in bothies. They don't seem to come in. Yes the path from ullapool is very good. Cheers.

Hi shaun. A big bag of huel weighs in at around 700 grams and we get 7 meals so 100 grams per meal. That's about 400 calories so not much but with extra snacks and porridge a tin of fish through the day I'm still way under 2,000 calories but it seems to do me. Its got all the vitamins and minerals in it you need to survive but a pub meal every now and then is a welcome treat. Thanks for your kind comment.

@@tubbatravels Thanks for that. Just in case anyone else follows this thread, I've spoken to Veronika at Inchnadampf hostel and they are no longer accepting parcels for anyone just passing through (as opposed to booked in) because last year they had so many uncollected parcels "with rotting food"! I've also added Kintail Crafts, since I need to break the load even further. And just an additional note, that I've watched videos from all sorts of people following this trail and yours are the most helpful and I shall be following closely in your footsteps.

@@briandunning2974 thank you Brian. We did camp at inchnadampf so we didn't have that problem. We are hiking the Pennine way this summer and have two food parcels to send to the camp site at malham and also a youth hostel, both places we are staying at. I understand them not accepting food if the person is not staying there. The kinlochewe post office we sent via a method called post restante. Most post offices will hold that for you for two weeks. It sounds like you are preparing well. I wish you the best of luck.

If you had taken the alternative route from where you camped between the two rivers, you might have ended up in the divorce court, ha ha. Man, that's a tough section.

Well I'm glad we went the way we did then. It was tough at times but one step at a time. I think that was one of my favourite camps beyween the rivers although cold.
