Love this and found this by sheer luck. 6 weeks in NZ from October next month and your route is 99% the same as mine for both islands. After watching this, I couldn't be any more excited. Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed it ❤

What happens if you get back late to the water taxi? Would you be stranded on the island until the next day? Is there anything there (lodging, food)?

I think they may have left us behind haha there was no reception either so we couldn't contact them even if we wanted to. There are campgrounds and there may be some lodges further down the trail, but we didn't bring any camping gear nor food for the night.
