Nice sunny hike until it was not... 🌦 The tree stump was interesting... Nature fascinates.

Neat to see the inside of that tree trunk! This is such a great hike... Looked like you had pretty great weather until the end, there. Glad you got to see some of the iconic ponies 👍 Those campsites up on Thomas Knob are excellent -- beautiful views at sunset! Last time I stayed at Scales, I woke up to some bozo's Jeep alarm going off multiple times at 5AM 😂

Yes we stayed at scales and I was worried about the cars and tents all in one area. I met a guy who worked with the DOD and formerly Microsoft. He gave me good food and conversation.

Love Grayson Highlands! Beautiful views, easy hiking, and the tamest “wild ponies” in the world. Of course rain isn’t the best weather to hike in. 😂

This was my first hard rain hike. I showed the trail so you could see it became a stream. I realized it wasnt so bad only because the temperature was up in the 70's. In cold weather this would have been a life threatening situation as I was absolutely soaked.
@WanderingMonkHikes Жыл бұрын
@@atypicalhiker yes, the rain can be threatening in the cold. When I hiked from Newfound Gap to Ice Water Shelter it rained all day. Temps were mid-40s, and suddenly it dropped 10 degrees. They had made a fire in the shelter and that kept me safe. Your video brought back great memories. Thanks Kevin!

@JasonOutdoors I'll keep you posted. Kevin said it wasn't hard. 12 miles, but they did it over 3 days.

Nice hike!! I've never hiked at the Grayson highlands... I'm assuming this is the area where hikers go to see the ponies? They sure are pretty! You've also given us a great reminder to always bring your rain gear- whew, the rain seems like it came out of no where!! Like 👍👍 I watched your other video of your - thoughts for the day... I'm sorry that you and others feel unseen, and I totally agree we need to come together as a people and not let anything divide us. :) We see you and appreciate you!! Take care my friend and Happy Trails! - Jennifer 😃

I went after my jet skis were stolen to try and get over losing so much money. It was mid-July, I think.
