Good for you. I first hiked on the AT as a Boy Scout in 1966. In 1974, I attended a Warren Doyle talk about his AT thru hike. I wanted to go with his group hike in 1975 but, I had an Army obligation. Now, I'm too old(its not just the age, its the mileage). I've been following hikers for years now. Be sure to treat all of your outer clothing and gear with permethrin. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Congratulations Kevin. You are so right about the mental part. That's what killed my last hike attempt. Looking forward to seeing your progress, and rooting for you all the way. Cant wait to hear about it. Question, starting out, what kind of milage are you doing in the beginning. I find myself struggling doing over 7 right now, and with that find too much time in camp and hard to deal with being cold. Best of luck to you!!

Great to see you hiking in Oregon! We haven’t been to this State Park before, actually haven’t hiked much in Oregon, but we should. Beautiful waterfalls - they each have a different look-so fun to see them all on one hike! Fresh green forest and a great trail! 👌🌲🌲🌲 Love those giant Fir trees!

I have a ULA Circuit and love that pack. I also have a pack made with Ultra material but it is the Durston Kakwa 55 which I really love as well. I think you made an excellent choice in your pack for sure. The shoes….meh, not so much. 😂👍🏼

The ULA Circuit looks like they made those hipbelt pockets smaller; mine can fit my phone and an Anker powerbank in one pocket. Nice color! Once you go brainless, you'll never go back! I strap my foam sleep pad onto the top. That sleeping bag liner looks good on you! 😂 Nice gear and video! 😃💚👊

Ton of great budget items there Kevin. Do love mittens in really cold weather. I've seen AT hikers just put plastic bags over then in real wet weather. Happy the hoodie worked out for you. Great video! 👍

Boogers? Well I guess you could but hand warmers might be a better option. 😂 It's been a while since I bought from Ali Express but I think I need to revisit soon. Great gear! I guess you're planning some cold hiking. Brrr.

Neoprene gloves look interesting…maybe a hand warmer can be tucked in that pocket. You’ll love the down booties. The EE mitts are the bomb…double check, I’m pretty sure they are synthetic. They work good when damp. Ooo, got a link for those toe socks? That melly clone looks great too.

I hope you don't store boogers in there. 😆 Nice gear. Be careful with EE gear, my friend. I love the things I have from them. But they are very fragile, and EE has the worst customer service you could get. I won't buy from them again. As the Crow Flies Hiking "Crow" had a similar problem with EE, so it wasn't just with me. I still carry a ULA Circuit. Great pack choice! 😃💚👊
