Thanks Rev for taking us along this sectio. Yes the midges are something else in these areas. I’ve been hiking the West Highland Way last year in the Month of May. I was prepared but have not seen any. I learned that they come out late may/beginning june. So I was lucky 😅.

Hi Rev, I have been following you for quite some time now and now I can't help myself to finally leave a comment. It has been such a great pleasure to join you on your Irish journey and I also notice that you have done an outstanding job with your editing! The music, your storytelling, the cuts, they just fit perfectly together and it brings me sooo much joy to watch your videos. So I just wanted to shout out to you and say THANK YOU for all your effort you have put into your channel so far. It is highly appreciated! ❤ Cheers from Germany! Until next time. 😊

@@TheHikingRev I pitched the tent then in the evening and started cooking. Attracted by the CO2 from the cooker they started to home in. They came like black clouds full of midges. We fled into the tent and finished the cooking there, neglecting that the tent may start burning. I did not dare getting out from the tent for peeing, etc. during the whole night. Next morning there were thousands of dead midges on the moskito netting of our tent. I will never ever camp again in such places. Hell must be like that, no fire, but plenty of midges...

Rain and then the bugs....ugh! That breakfast looks similar to full English breakfast. I never tried it When I was in England because I simply can't eat that much in the morning. Wow!!! Hiking, however, would probably change that!

BTW you should be moving towards Sligo now. Nearby are some of the first agricultural neolithical fields at Ceide, or called similar, if I remember correctly. There's a nice museum there, looking like a pyramid, also offering food. It's just great being there and overlooking these fields and thinking about the people who lived there some 5500 years ago.

Good morning, Rev. Woke up to find your video waiting for me. What a way to start a day. Beautiful video. Don't know if they are the same, but we had a little bug in GA that we called " no see ums" . They sound like midges to me. Did you ever camp out and not get rained on in the middle of the night? I'd be in a world of rain as heavy as I sleep. I'd wake up to a soaked tent, inside and out. Blessings to you and your family. Take care. Stay safe. See you next time.

Rev, thanks for the efforts. Can you explain what a full irish breakfast is? Is see an egg, beans, sausage links, potato cake, mushrooms, but what are the other items - was that bacon? What were the black circular items?
@TheHikingRev
@TheHikingRev 5 ай бұрын
You’re welcome. A Full Irish Breakfast includes all the things you mentioned plus grilled tomato, bacon (or “rashers”). The “black circular item” is very interesting. It, along with the lighter colored item, is called “pudding.” Wikipedia defines “Irish pudding” as “a distinct regional type of blood sausage originating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is made from pork or occasionally beef blood, with pork fat or beef suet, and a cereal, usually oatmeal, oat groats, or barley groats. The high proportion of cereal, along with the use of certain herbs such as pennyroyal, serves to distinguish black pudding from blood sausages eaten in other parts of the world.[1]” 😳
