It gives new meaning, understanding and compassion when you learn the History of such a brave man, and that you are mostly walking in his same footsteps! Great Video Rev!

Afternoon, Rev. Enjoyed the video. Just remember that the rain you went through watered the beautiful countryside you walked through each day. The views of the lochs were really pretty. Looked like that was quite a walk on your zero, but I enjoyed the Irish history lesson. Thanks for sharing. Hope that you and your family are doing well. Take care. Stay safe. See you next video.

Hey Judith. Thanks. Ireland has a rich history and I’m glad I got to enjoy it. 😁

I had no clue about the O'Rourke castle, I will be looking that up to read more about it. One of the things that I love about your videos is that no matter how you are feeling you always give off happy positive vibes and that is so refreshing to see. Can't wait to see the next video and maybe learn some more about Irish history.🙂

Thanks Derek. You’re very kind. (BTW…I do get discouraged sometimes. I just try not to show it.) The history of the O’Sullivan-Beare march and the O’Rorke Castle is very interesting. 😁

I'm a history geek, and I have Irish ancestors, so I find this particularly interesting. Thank you, I will have to make a point of a zero day in Leitrim when I get to do The Ireland Way myself 😊

Hey Reba. You’ll enjoy Leitrim Village. The O’Rourke Castle wall and O’Sullivan-Beare monument are just around the corner from the Leitrim Inn which, by the way, is a great place to stay. Highly recommended. 😁

Superb video. I admire how you hike and put in extra time & energy to put yourself in the footage- a lot of extra steps retrieving your phone. I think i would love hiking in Ireland- it looks so clean, safe and beautiful. But of course hiking there would have to be in my next life.

Thanks Rebecca. I often say that I hike the trail three times. 😂

That didn't look like a zero day. That meal was at least 3000 calories! Thanks for the history lesson. Cheers! 🙂

I'm curious, with the rain being on and off would you have rather had an umbrella? ... or are you happy with the raincoat? ... or would you bring both? I've got a trip planned where I expect spotty rain all day.
@TheHikingRev5 ай бұрын
I’m not a fan of umbrella’s on trail. It monopolizes the use of one of your hands, can turn inside-out in a strong wind and is not multi-functional like a rain jacket. A rain suit can be used as hiking pants, wind pants, an extra layer of warmth on cold nights and clothes while your hiking clothes are being washed and dried as well as…rain protection. JMHO. 😁

I prefer T-shirts made from Merinowool (mostly from the New Zealand brand Icebraker). They smell much less than artificial fibres or cotton and they don't itch on the skin like normal wool.
@TheHikingRev5 ай бұрын
Hey Daniel. I like Marino Wool “anything.” 😁
@danielduesentriebjunior5 ай бұрын
@@TheHikingRev I noticed that you are apparently still wearing that same artificial fibre shirt from the PCT. Instant stink! Merino wool from Merino sheep, however, BTW bred in large numbers in New Zealand, is comfy to your skin and does not stink. Anyhow, it is somewhat expensive, but in my oppinion it is absolutely worth it, since nobody is going to hate you in a mountain retreat due to your pungent odor!

Am I right about that shirt from the PCT?
@danielduesentriebjunior5 ай бұрын
You get also underwear slips made from Merino wool, another place where it may stink...
