Thank you for chair info. Inspired by your videos I started a reverse MST last week at Jockeys Ridge. Completed 32 miles. Headed back next week to try and finish Hatteras Island. Plan to acclimate to hills slowly as I head west. I live in the middle of the state so hoping to do a lot of the road walking on day hikes. Thanks again.

That's awesome! I've tried planning out the beach walking...not sure whether to look forward to it or dread it. The Orgeon Inlet bridge is causing me some anxiety just thinking about it. I still think I'll save that section for last though. Now is the time of year to hike the coast...too hot for me during the summer. Happy hiking!
@Sabrekea564 жыл бұрын
Bridge was not bad at all. Of course traffic is much lighter right now. There is a six foot bike lane on either side so I didn’t feel unsafe.

I can’t list everything that awesome except 1 thing.... when Crow is eating his pizza, he looks like a little kid sitting at the big or grown-ups table! 😂 Go back and look.... it will crack you up! What was your preferred method of navigation? MST isnt blessed with a Guthooks pack. Gaia?
@SideTrailAdventures3 жыл бұрын
The good news is there's an app called "The MST Guide". It's not Guthooks but I've found it to be very helpful in planning and while I'm hiking. For MST trips, I've been using a combination of Gaia and the MST app. I just finished segment 2 and the app was really helpful at letting us know where we were on the trail (how far to the next water source, etc.). From what I understand, the creators are still developing it, so I only expect it to get better. I've been thinking about doing a full video on planning MST trips, etc. and will likely go deeper into my experiences with the app. Thanks for watching!
@HammerandPipe3 жыл бұрын
@@SideTrailAdventures that would be helpful if you did. Im looking to do some section hikes to build my fitness for a full go at it. I was going to do the AZT and realized thats probably not an intelligent first thru hike hahaha. Ill stick close to home and bang out the MST. Edit: seems the MST app is for android only. Thats a huge bummer

In many of your videos I see a camp chair but I don’t see a link. What chair do you have and how would you rate it?
@SideTrailAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Ooops, guess I forgot to include the link in the description. For backpacking, I use the REI Flexlite Air chair (bit.ly/3kqYBQm). It's super comfy (for a backpacking chair) and pretty light for what it is. If weight is not as important for you, the regular REI Flexlite is good too and a little less expesive. The "Air" version is about half the weight of the normal. I really like both chairs but if you're looking to get one, I'd recommend waiting for one of REI's sales...they'll usually knock off a good chunk of the price. Thanks for watching!
