Hiking the NEW Ha Ling Peak Trail. Bow Valley

August 20/2019 Summer Hike
Today we are in the Bow Valley, above Canmore, Alberta. We will be hiking/scrambling to the top of Ha Ling Peak, on the new trail. The trail is 7.9 kilometers out and back, with an elevation gain of 804 meters. I really enjoyed this hike, and they have done so much work on the trail up to the saddle. With the large switchbacks, and new stairs, this hike can be done by anyone. From the saddle to the peak, it is still a scramble, and the trail is not maintained.

Great video and videos!!! Open a new perspective of all you can hike in Alberta, quick question....the cleats are the normal ones for ice ? or there is special ones for scree? Thank you for your time and have happy hikes!

Thank you very much. They are the same cleats that I use for ice, but you have to watch it when you are on solid rock as it's like you are on skates, but they do help on the scree.

How long was your hike? How would you grade this hike?

If you like steps this is the hike for you. It's not bad getting up to the saddle, after that it is very steep to the summit. Not an easy hike, but the views make it all worth while.

My moving time was just under 4 hours, total hiking time was 6.5 hours.

I got to the trailhead around 9am. My total moving time was just under 4 hours. My total hiking time was 6.5 hours. I hike very slowly as I am taking video and pictures. I hope this helps.
