Our happy return to the mountains! A hike up Cnicht (Knight) within the Moelwynion mountain range, dubbed the Welsh Matterhorn for its' striking appearance being extraordinarily similar to that of the famous Matterhorn in the Alps.
We started our hike from a free carpark in the village of Croesor (LL48 6SR), heading North-West through Croesor we found a track leading up to the West ridge up Cnicht. The mountain path itself is particularly good considering this is a quiet area of the Snowdonia National Park, although there is a small amount of short, easy scrambling towards the peak.
The views! Breathtaking, this is THE BEST small mountain walking we've ever experienced, an ideal first mountain. The whole trip was just 4 miles and is an absolute treat, especially on a clear day like we had. A special place.
Day 2 of our Portmeirion series, plenty more Snowdonia adventures coming up.....so stay tuned!
Thank you for being here, all the best, Ceri & Kat!
