Sweet bike! Glad you were finally able to enjoy this hike. We say the same thing about some of the things near where we live that we always talk about but had never don’t before. Hope you made it back in time!

Thanks, slowly recovering, I think I lifted a heavy box the wrong way. So be careful when lifting things.

Really enjoying your vidoes Austin. We have subscribed in support! We know how hard it can be to produce good content and get your KZbin off the ground. We're a small channel too and going through it ourselves. So really wanted to show our support. Keep up the good work! Wish you success

Thanks, I appreciate the support. I mostly started it to get some practice being on camera and to document some adventures. We’ll see where it goes. Cheers!

MapQuest says it takes 40 minutes to go from Rollinsville to the East Portal TH ( one way). That doesn't seem right, does it? How was it on the motorcycle?
@AustinsADV
@AustinsADV 11 ай бұрын
Hi, it's 8 miles from Rollinsville to the TH. I'd say it's around 20 minutes. The road is dirt and gravel and is in generally good condition so it's not bad at all on a motorcycle.

What's your opinion of hiking poles? I sort of prefer not to have them myself for various reasons. I am new to your channel but I haven't seen you use them yet. Thanks -

Perfect video to ask this question… this is the only hike that I’ve ever done where I wish I had poles… injured my back hitching up the camper and had bad sciatica in my left leg lots of pain, so the extra support would have been nice. The only time I ever use poles is snowshoeing, and even then it’s pretty rare, but they are helpful if it’s very steep. For the hikes I do in the summer, I think they just get in the way. Some people love them though. Saw that you are climbing a volcano… if that’s a steep loose surface it might be nice to have some poles…I climbed a little cinder cone in Utah and it was like climbing a mountain made of marbles 😂

@@AustinsADV Rented poles but fortunately they were collapsible and I only used them on the last 20% of the climb. Walking marbles is a great description!

Nice! Sounds like it was good to have them on that loose surface.
