Kraig , there is another nice hike in Rio de Janeiro/ Minas Gerais.from the higher part of the Parque Nacional de Itatiaia down to Visconde de Mauá. I did it 48 years ago when I was 24. It is always a pleasure watching your videos.

Next time you come to Brazil try Pico do Marumbi near Curitiba. There are several trails in the region, covering gorgeous mountains over preserved Atlantic Forest, with awesome views. You can spend a month exploring all of them without moving very far. Also, not as hot as Rio.

had a small day pack for city walking, kept the Hyperlite for the hike and had a small Patagonia duffel as well for this trip. Stashed it at the hotel I’d be returning to after the hike.

First of all I do love your videos. It always reminds me of what i should rather do in my life ! However i wonder about the advantages of walking and hiking in such short pants under all circumstances -- does it have any advantage other than being a bit more airy, when it is really hot and muggy ? What about the colder days and regions ? What about mosquitos, shrubs and other rather nasty things ? Or is it just a little ploy to always show off your well trained legs 😉
