Hiking West Coast Trail (Vancouver Island, BC)

West Coast Train on Vancouver Island, BC in 6 days
75km of Pacific coast awesomeness, a unique trail created to assist the victims of countless shipwrecks in 1907 now can be hiked in 5-7 days and every moment there is priceless. Just look how the landscape constantly changes from woods to waterfalls to sandy beaches to pebble beaches, it passes through the lands of Pacheedaht First Nations, and then it goes right through something absolutely extraterrestrial as volcanic formation of Juan de Fuac are getting exposed to the ocean.
I say everyone who lives in British Columbia, must hike the West Coast Trail at least once.

This is pretty much what's so special about WCT: after each corner you face a totally different landscape, and often enough a totally different lighting conditions. It is unfortunate of course if one is lucky to get into a solid week of overcast and rain, but both times I was there I was lucky with mostly sunny days. This is an extremely dry condition on the trail, BTW, and fire ban.

Really fantastic video. I really enjoyed my hike on the WCT last year. One question/comment, that didn't look like Cullite on day 5, any chance you meant to say Campers Bay in the chapter description? That mask on the bathroom door is really distinctive.

You know what, I double checked the footage and it is confusing indeed. It may look like Campers Bay, but actually the morning footage (breakfast and lockers) was shot at Cullite Creek, but there's almost nothing on that footage that would be unique to the Cullite camp site. Then we hiked and our first stop that day was at Campers Bay where I've got much more footage that actually describes the scene (from 19:48). Since on the final video there's nothing that would hint at hiking between the two locations, it does indeed look like the same place. The way I named the chapter is to remember where we actually camped. But hey, good eye. I don't think I could tell the difference by heart now.

That makes perfect sense! I see how I mistook the two locations vs the chapter title. I have showed your footage of the mud bogs to several others. Its the one time I didn't film much as it was also raining and I didn't want to try to juggle everything while keeping from falling in. :)

@@AndrewJhikes I like some bogs scenes for how crisp and colourful they are. Of course, it was kind of a dry season, with fire ban and everything, and the bogs were pretty dry too.

Fair enough. I was quite touched by the fact that Monique and her husband (who held a little restaurant on the trail) passed away since last time I was here. It must've set the mood.
